Victoire's PoV
February 14, 2017

I haul myself out of bed and climb sleepily downstairs. Dad is making French Toast and the smell has invaded the whole house.
"Morning, sweet pea," Dad says as he hands me a plate of pancakes.

"Morning, Dad," I respond sleepily. I walk over to the couch and turn the TV to Spongebob. Andrew comes and joins me a few minutes later.

"Spongebob?" he asks.

"I've been deprived."

We eat our breakfast slowly and watch the whole episode. Afterwards I climb into the shower. I needed to get one first so Mom could do my hair and makeup for my dance recital. She was very good at it. As soon as I'm dry and in loose clothing, Mom gets to work on my hair.
"So, how was your trip?" Mom asks while she pins my hair in various places.
"I really loved it, Mom. I don't know how I'll be able to leave them when tour is over. I really love them."
"So who do you love the most out of them?"
"Mom! That would be like asking you to pick your favorite kid."
"Oh, that's easy. Definitely your brother."

"Mom!" I object.

"You had colic!"

After that, Mom and I burst out laughing. It had been quite a while since we'd had a moment like this. It was normally interrupted by yelling or fighting. It was nice to just be able to laugh with my mother. We continued to talk and joke until my hair and makeup was complete. I thanked Mom and blew her a kiss so I wouldn't smudge the lipstick.

Half an hour later and we were on the road. I was changed into my first costume. I would be dancing with four other girls to Hallelujah. I had on a sheer black dress with lace details. Underneath was a plain black leotard and tights. I would put on my pointe shoes when I got in the building.

We arrived two hours before the concert was due to start. Miss Holly had called my entire class early so we could go over everything one last time. I had learned all the routines, and my places in the number, but I had never danced with the other girls with the completed choreography. Hallelujah went flawlessly. The next number was with the whole class to, believe it or not, Standing By. I had asked for the song, and Miss Holly agreed. There were a few times when one girl was dancing by herself and I got my solo at the bridge.

Once again, flawless. I got through 2 more group dances to Bad Blood and Let it Go. Next was my solo to I See Fire. Miss Holly knew my potential and really let me shine. I had tons of stunts laced in to the choreography and a beautiful turn section. Thankfully, Miss Holly couldn't find any errors. I got through everything without messing up. It seems that I did a good job because Miss Holly caught my eye and gave me a slight nod. Now, all I have to do is get through the recital.

Mitch's PoV

"Are you sure we're in the right place?" I asked in doubt.
"One hundred percent," Scott said as he got out of the car.

"Then we must be late," I said looking at the parking lot full of cars. "The show doesn't start for another hour."

Scott shrugged and we walked into the auditorium. There were pamphlets with the name of the company. I'd have to look through it after we found our seats. We finally stopped Victoire's mom who waved us over. She had managed to save almost an entire row of seats near the front. Kirstie and Jeremy were already seated. I sat down in between Kirstie and Scott, who started talking to Vic's Mom.

Esther and Kevin slid into the seats next to us. "Where's Avi?" I asked. Kevin just shrugged. 15 minutes later, Avi walks in.

"Where were you?" Esther scolds.
"I got lost."

We all roll our eyes and talk quietly until the performance starts.

I look through the guide and see that Vic is in no less than five dances. She had been balancing all that choreography, school work, and touring with us? That girl was talented.

I showed all the others and they were as impressed as I was. The show started and we had to watch two numbers before Victoire started off with a duet to Let It Go. The girl had real talent and nailed the performance. We all clapped and screamed as the curtains closed. Next was Hallelujah which had Kirstie, Avi, and Scott in tears. After that was Bad Blood which showed off some Hip Hop which was interesting.

After that was our favorite, but especially Avi's. It was Standing By. He gasped loudly and gently hit Esther. "Knock it off," she said with a quiet laugh. By the end we were, once again, in tears. The recital was almost over, and we finally reached I See Fire. We had already seen this routine quite a few times, but it was still stunning. It got a standing ovation.

When the concert ended, Victoire was waiting for her parents by the stage. It was crowded, so she couldn't see us. After she got done posing for a picture, we all engulfed her in a hug. When we let go, we all gave her the bouquets of flowers we had gotten for her.

"Sorry," she said as she quickly wiped away the tears flowing down her face. "Thank you."
"No need to be sorry. We all cried during your performances," Esther said.

"You should've seen Avi during Standing By. He was a mess," I said dramatically.

"We need a picture of you all," Victoire's mom said. We all posed for a photo that hopefully turned out well given we'd all just been crying. Vic's parents gave her their flowers and we took pictures to send to her. About half an hour later, we had made it out of the auditorium. We all loaded up in our cars and drove to a nearby frozen yogurt place. "It's tradition," Victoire insisted. So we went.

Once we ordered and sat down, we knew it was time to break the news.
