It's dark and dreary outside, storm clouds are moving in above us. I can hear rain drops starting to drizzle down the barn windows and trees swaying in the wind. There is no one outside preparing for the incoming storm. Nope nada, nothing or no one it's just me and Bradley inside the barn awaiting for the storm to pass over. It seems to be around 7:00pm, which means we've already been here for over an hour sitting on hay barrels listening to each others conversations. I have no idea how long or how bad this storm is going to be but I figure that were going to be stuck here over night. No food, no water, and no heat just shelter. That's perfectly fine with me knowing that I'm already dead not needing the essentials rather than the needs. By the looks of Bradley I don't think he's going to do so well without even the slightest amount of food within the next hour or so. I quickly remember that I had packed a snickers bar in my back pocket if needed. When I pull it out I manage to stretch out my aching arm towards him and saying "here I think it's going to be a while before we get out of here and I thought you would be hungry?" He glances down my arm and at my pawn where I hold the snickers bar,and takes it in a flash, not even offering if I wanted it. "Jee your welcome" ('oh sorry I'm just so hungry I guess I didn't want to share, it's like I'm in a scene from the hunger games when there's one squirrel cabab left!" He chuckles. "A squirrel cobab?" (" ya you know a roasted squirrel on a stick? A squirrel cobab duh everyone knows that's ") Already indulging in his snickers bar like there's no tomorrow. " woe slow down there you might want to save half for later, I don't have any others like that!" (" that's okay I believe this will be enough to tie me over until tomorrow. " ya right " she replied. Now why don't you get back to that story you were telling me.
"(So what I was saying."), Bradley replied... it was the day of October 31st business was usual, you know men go to work on the farms and the women stayed home to watch the children. I was outside in the grass helping my father milk the cows. I was very young maybe 5-6 years old, living with my father since my mother had passed the day I was born. But that didn't really matter to me much since I had developed this bond between me and my father which covered up the whole of my mother not being there for me. Anyway back to the story, so after me and my father milked the cows I went over to my neighbours house to play with there son Tim. Long story short we played outside in his sandbox until dusk foreshadowed. Meanwhile we were inside eating supper Tim's mom appeared frightened at the look of outside her kitchen window. She said she had seen dark shadows and a huge dark storm coming closer. She called her husband Dan into the room to take the kids into the basement to hideout the vicious storm. She was a brave women but took no chances, she called all the neighbours including my father alerting that an incoming storm was approaching and to take shelter immediately.
So basically we hid out in the basement me in Dane's arms and Tim in his mom's arms. The storm wasn't getting any better, with bangs, horrid winds and mini tornadoes. Me and Tim continued to talk to each other and play patty cake as though nothing was wrong. When Mary, Tim's mom saw no improv all in the storm, she set out a game plan immediately . She told her husband to head to the other side of town crossing the forest and Into a cellar deep under ground in a meadow she found. We did as we were told except she agreed not to join us. I can still remember her saying that she had to go check on the others and bring them back to our basement for shelter. Tim was only three at the time and didn't quite understand what was going on. I on the other hand when she told us we were to leave the cellar I understood immediately and was shaking with fear but I did as I was told.
So Dan had agreed to leave with the kids without knowing he kissed his wife goodbye taking Tim and me and we were out. Rushing Dan was carrying Tim and holding onto my hand as we ran against the wind. We made it to the forest but by then the winds had picked up immensely with power and 3 tornadoes were heading our way. I was dragging my feet against the ground trying not to trip over twigs when a tree branch had fallen in front of me causing me to trip. My hand slipped out of Dane's and I plummeted to the ground. Scraped and bruised, Dan turned back and came rushing towards me when a stroke of lightening had struck a tree causing it to fall rapidly coming towards him and Tim. I looked up and saw tears streaming down Tim's face in worry and shock while him and his dad got crushed by the tree right in front of me. I left my closest family and ran for the cellar getting lost and falling quite a few times. Finally I made it to the cell and hid in the darkness and the loneliness until someone found me. I was lucky. I was found in roughly 2 days later by a man named Jerry who had rescued me and had taken me in as his own while waiting to tell me the bad news that every one I had loved had been killed. Tim, Dan, Mary, and my dad. Years later a deathly plague had hit wiping out everyone I knew even my new parent Jerry who i had grown so close to had left me. All that i knew was that i was left as an orphan.
I sit up and get back to reality not noticing that I had been crying the entire time but also my face was ghost pale by the look Elena was giving me. "Omg Bradley I'm so sorry, I didn't know and the pain you must have gone through." She gestures putting her arm out to wrap her arms around him, but faintly remembered that if she touched him he wouldn't feel anything because she was a ghost. She quickly brought back her arm before she touched him. Bradley wiped his tears on his sleeve and said ("Tim was like a brother to me and I witnessed his death before my eyes without saying goodbye.") Elena quickly changed the subject by saying "hey look the rain stopped!"
