Eddie's POV

"Keep breathing, Eddie!" Jamie almost yelled 

"What do you think I'm doing? Genius!" I said sassily in between heavy breaths

"Are we almost there, Jamie, I don't know how much longer I can hold on."

"Yeah, if this idiot would MOVE!" He yelled as if the car in front of us could hear him 

My contractions were overlapping now. I had never felt such pain in my life. It felt as if my body was tearing apart from the inside.

At the hospital

Jamie's POV

They wheeled her in on a gurney. They said I had to stay in the waiting room. They said that my wife and my unborn child were in distress. They said that they would keep me updated.

" family of Edit Reagan?" The nurse came from the delivery room hallway 

" I'm her husband." I said flatly

"  your wife has gone into shock. We will have to perform a emergency C-Section."

I couldn't believe it. I just couldn't believe it." What?"

" I'm sorry, Mr Reagan, I know that you and your wife wanted a natural birth, but the umbilical cord,   It's um, it's uh,"

I rubbed my temples with my index and thumb. I felt the wetness in my eyes, the tears slowly fall down my cheeks, the lump in the back of my throat, and the ball of nerves in the pit of my stomach.

There was a awkward silence 

" I'll keep you posted."  The nurse said then walked back down the hall and into a hospital room.

5 hours later 

I stood at the window. I stared at the empty baby bed that said "Reagan".

Then a nurse came in the room before me, she held a pink bundle 

"So lucky, now some other family doesn't have to worry about wether or not they will get to see their baby" I thought to myself. But the nurse put the bundle in the empty bed, the empty bed that said "Reagan" 

" oh my god! That's my baby! That's my  daughter!" I thought to myself 

But wait, what about Eddie? Did she make it? Was she alright? Where was she? I ran to the front desk

"Edit Reagan."

"what? " the secretary sounded puzzled 

"Edit Reagan. Where is she?" I said, half of me didn't want to know the answer,the other half had to know the answer.

"206- maternity"

I ran to room 206. I saw her laying in the bed her eyes were closed. I walked over to her bed and held her hand. She turned her head and looked at me.

" what are we doing here?"

" you don't remember?" She shook her head. " well, mommy...."

"What? I had the baby? What is it? Where is it? How is it?"

" she's in the nursery and she's fine." 

" a daughter, I have a daughter!"

The nurse came in holding her.

Wow. Just wow.

Eddie,of course held her first.then it was my turn.

"What if I drop her?" I worried. " relax, Reagan."

I held my child for the first time. It was the best moment of my life.

" does she have a name?" The nurse, who had just enter the room, asked.

I looked at Eddie. She looked at me. We looked at the nurse.

"Amy Elizabeth Reagan." We said in unison.

" wonderful, mr. Reagan, please come to the desk to fill out the birth certificate."

I gave Amy to Eddie.

I looked at my new family. How beautiful.
