Before I knew it, that magical Christmas day was gone, and I was standing in front of my old school. Seeing Iris was great, and Wes was too, but there was something off about him their entire stay. I was still sad to see them go, and I wished I could go back in time and re-live it all again.

Sucking up all the courage I could muster, I take a step towards the giant door that lead to the front office of my former school. Flashbacks of my first day at Hollow Springs High swirl through my mind. I remembered how nervous I was, and now I would give anything to go back.

The front office reeks of the cheap air freshener you can buy in the bargain section at Target, and it makes me want to double over and puke. But I continue on and approach Prudence, the crabby secretary that I hadn't missed in the least...

"Ah, yes. Ms. Silvia?" she asks absentmindedly.

"Um, yep." I say uncomfortably.

"Well, since you aren't exactly new to our school, you will just be resuming your normal schedule. I assume you remember it?"

"Yes, ma'am." I say and trudge on to my first class, science with Mr. Kennedy.

Right before I pull open the door, my phone buzzes. It was a text from Wes.

Math class is super boring without u!!

I secretly type a message back and duck into the classroom. Mr. Kennedy was already twenty minuets deep into his daily lecture, and doesn't really even notice when I slip into a vacant seat in the back of the classroom.

"Ick. The garbage girl's back." A horribly familiar voice sneers.

Victoria Keen. Bully, conceded, and the most popular girl in school.

"Nice to see you too, Victoria." I say icily and try to listen to Mr. Kenndey's talk about atoms and molecules.

Victoria doesn't answer, she's too busy texting someone on her phone. It's only then when Mr. Kennedy stops talking.

"Ms. Keen?" He asks.

Victoria doesn't even look up.

"Ms. Keen." He says sharper.

She rolls her eyes.

Mr. Kennedy averts his attention to me and smiles.

"Ms. Track! So glad to have you back here at our lovely school." He beams.

I mumble something along the lines of, glad to be here, and watch everyone's eyes linger on me.

I'm pretty sure they never knew I actually went here before.

He makes his way over to Victoria and snatches her phone out of her manicured fingertips.

"And now, a reading from the phone of Victoria Keen." He announces to the class and pops up onto his desk.

Giggles erupt throughout the room.

"A message sent from Victoria herself: You'll never guess who's back."  Mr. Kennedy starts.

My blood runs cold.

If this conversation had anything to do with me, this wouldn't end well.

"A message from Jazmine: Don't tell me it's garbage girl."

Tears well up in my eyes.

Don't cry, no tears here.

"A response from Victoria: Yep. In the flesh. She's sitting right next to me. I think I might get diseased from her! LOL XD"

Mr. Kennedy's face falls when he realizes that I was the topic.

Hot tears stream down my face.

Gosh, I'm such a baby!

"Ahem, Ms. Track you can go regroup in the restroom. In the meantime, Ms. Keen I'd like to speak with you." He says.

I run out into the hallway. I slide past the rows of lockers and dodge the slackers who are ditching their classes and doing some, shady  things in the vacant hallways.

I slam myself into the biggest stall in the bathroom, and wipe the tears from my cheeks.

I had a certain feeling that if Mom were still here, I wouldn't have cried and made a fool of myself. I wouldn't have let Victoria tear me down.

I missed Iris's sense of humor, and Wes's kind words.

I wanted to go home.

To Hollow Springs.
