002:
Animosity
(I'm writing this on the airplane to Wales. An airplane, James. You always said you wanted to ride one, which is dumb because its freaking scary)
In Grade Eight, I met Rory, and you absolutely hated him. You said he was an ass, and that I deserved better. I honestly thought I loved him. But you, with your big mouth, had to go and ruin it.
Rory was perfect. He loved me just as much as I loved him. He cared about me, unlike you, you egotistical wanker, and we could have lasted. I guess it was kind of my fault, I shouldn't have invited you to hang out with us even though I knew in the back of my mind that something terrible would happen, like in every other situation concerning you and my love life.
"You know, Rory, Kathleen had a pretty big crush on me a few years back. I wouldn't be surprised if she still did, actually." You had said to him. His eyes had widened to the size of biscuits, and he stared at you, confused.
"Really?" Rory had replied, sadness and jealousy already lacing his voice. You probably thought that I wasn't listening, but I was, from across the table, pretending to type out a message on my phone.
"Yea. You should've seen all the poetry she wrote about me, man, there was a ton." You lied. I wanted to say something, but I was too embarrassed and angry. "If I were you, I'd be pretty jealous if my girlfriend's best friend was a dude. I mean, she sleeps over at mine all the time, and you don't even bat an eyelash! That's got to take some serious will power, dude." You grinned, that stupid know-it-all grin, and I wanted to reach over the table and pull your jaw out. Rory nodded, a sad smile on his face.
The next day, Rory came over with a petunia, my favorite flower, and broke up with me. I called you a few hours later, and cussed you out. I told you that I never wanted to see you again. I hung up before you could say anything.
The next days at school were awful, and you acted extremely hostile.
I made up with you after a week.
I've been afraid of animosity ever since.
