My head bounced silently against the window in annoyance. After Val and I had left my room, she was quickly shooed away from me after she was scolded for doing my makeup and hair different. Then my mother chewed me out for letting her do it to me, and then sighed and said we didn't have time to fix it.

Soon after that, my mother and The Secret Service guys ushered me into the black, tinted SUV. Yet again my mother chided me for stumbling in the stupid heels that she made me wear, even though she knew I was the clumsiest person in the world. After this all happened in a matter of minutes, we were heading off to yet another meeting of my Father's.

The reason I was quietly banging my head against the window was because of my mothers irritating nagging for the past 30 minutes. This car was way too small for her annoying words that seemed to suck out all of the oxygen in the car. Everyone sat in an awkward silence, just letting her mound full of words tumble from her thin lips. Her words droned in and out of my ears until I couldn't ignore her words anymore.

"- and remember to be polite, Tylie. Sit up straight too. You look like a hobo when you don't," she scolded me, but I cut her off quickly. Naomi Owens was making a fool of me in front of my Father's men, and I have had enough of it. "Yes and smile but don't look like its forced, and don't embarrass you or Dad. Jesus, I get it, Mom. I've been doing this for 18 years, nearly 19. This isn't my first meeting," I spoke hotly, making her cheeks flare in anger. I didn't need her constantly nagging at me, especially in front of my fathers men. It was embarrassing, quite frankly. She made me look like a child when I was, in fact, an adult.

I caught one of the men's eye through the mirror, where he sat in the front seat. A ghost of a smug smile lit his face and it made my skin tingle, and I thought I had never seen more beautiful blue eyes on a person, besides my bestfriend. This guy was much younger than the other men, probably about 21 or so.

And I don't know how he was chose to be in a trusted, important group like this one. Normally the men were older, and more trained with their years. But not him. His blonde hair with brownish highlights was styled up to perfection, and I couldn't deny he was slightly attractive even though I shouldn't admit that. My Father would kill me, and have him ten feet under the ground before I could even mutter a 'sorry'. But I was an idiot who apparently had a death wish, so that was the reason I was slightly smirking at him now.

Mr. Horan, I think his name was.

My mom literally snapped me out of my reverie by snapping her perfectly manicured fingers in front of my face. I tilted my head off the window and sighed, turning towards her. "You have to stay focused, Tylie. A lot is riding on this," my Mother informed me coldly, like she always did. My head nodded on instinct. There was no use in arguing with her because I would end up losing.

Do this for your Dad, Tylie, I reminded myself almost constantly.

I turned towards our driver, who just happened to be my best friends father, Michael Clifford. A huge smile took over my face as I leaned as far as the seatbelt would allow me and smiled up at him. "Hey, Mikey," I giggled, earning a conspiratorial grin from him. Mikey was so much like his daughter it was uncanny, but maybe that's why I loved them so. He earned this nickname when I was just a toddler, not being able to say his full name. Now I just use it as a form of mockery to make him smile.

He was definitely more of a parent to me than my actual mother was. Michael was like another father to me, and probably wasn't as serious as he should be. He was always around me unlike my father, and he treated me with kindness and comedy unlike other Secret Service members that treated me with silence.

I loved when he got to escort us around, because he's the only one I didn't have to be formal with because he wasn't formal with me either. "Hey Ty," he smiled at me, his earpiece cord hanging down his pale neck, "how's it going, kiddo?" A little laugh escaped my lips and I threw an evil glance over my shoulder towards my mother, or should I say satan.
