~3 weeks later~
My stitches are healed now but I'm told to take it easy. I haven't seen my mom since I got in trouble that one night, the doctors and nurses are all eyeballing me. I have to admit, it's kinda creepy.Anyways, my dad is coming to pick me up. I'm sitting by the sun window in my hospital room. The sun comes through and warms my face.
"Ready to go, tiger?" I turn around and see my dad, standing there with his arms out. I get up and run into his arms, tears threatening to spill out. He embraces me and kisses my head.
"Let's go, dad." I say and take his hand in mine. We pass the doctor's desk and stop to ask about my mom. The doctor summons my dad over to talk to him privately.
I follow my dad and when the doctor raises his eyebrow, I simply say, "she's my mom, I get to know what's going on. I'm sick of being in the dark about everything, you don't have a say in this so start talking, Mr. Doctor-man."
My dad looks at me in shock and then slowly gathers himself together. I hold my head up high and cross my arms over my chest.
"Well, Jessica is in a coma and we have no idea for how long. We will keep you updated if something happens. We will run a few tests within the next few weeks and will keep you updated on those as well. You can come see her anytime during visiting hours." Mr. Doctor-Man looks at me as he says that, probably remembering our little "incident". He shakes my dad's hand, then mine and gives me a small smile. I smile back at him and walk out the door.
In the car, my dad tells me that we are going to the house to pick up a few things of mine. Hershey is in the back seat and he greets me by giving my face a bath with his tongue. He's spent the last few weeks at my dad's.
"Don't worry, I've taken good care of him while you've been away." My dad says with a smile.
I grin and look out the window. Clouds have covered the sun and there's a few sprinkles.
We pull into my driveway and my dad unlocks the car. "Alright, don't be long but bring the necessary things for about two weeks." My dad says.
I nod and rush into the house. Hershey jumps out with me before halting and smelling my bandage. He whines but I pat his head reassuringly. "It's ok, I'm fine now." He whines again and starts licking the bandage. I laugh and shove his nose away.
As I climb the stairs, Hershey is right next to me attempting to help me in any way possible. I think back to the day of the accident. How long ago was that? Feels like forever ago.
I stuff a few outfits and other daily essentials into a suitcase and grab some of Hershey's things. As I'm about to leave I stop by the door and take in my surroundings. I'll still go to my school, but I'll be living with my dad for who knows how long, until my mom is better. I walk out the door, Hershey's leash in my hand.
