{Kiera POV}
"Hey honey, wanna go see your mom?" My dad asks.How can he be so laid back? Knowing what he knows, doing what he does. Oh and there's still that girl he hasn't decided to tell me about yet. Why can't he just be honest with me?
Right, because you're honest with him.
Instead of screaming all of that at him, I calmly say, "Uh, yea dad that would be great." Maybe we can have a little chat on the way as well...
You really think you have the guts for that? HAH!
Back off, I can do it.
We'll see.
One of the bad things about listening to my anxiety is that I can never make it be quiet. When people tell me to shut up, they simply don't have to listen to me anymore. But I'm constantly having arguments with myself, in my own frickin' head.

"Jessica is the same as last time you saw her." Mr. Doctor-Man says, a bit too sharply might I add. He rubs his face and I notice how unkempt he looks. His hair has gotten a few extra strands of gray, the bags under his eyes are a deep violet color, and his clothes are wrinkly with a slight stench coming off. Barely noticeable, unless you look closer. Poor guy."Ok, thank you Doctor. Your work is greatly appreciated." My dad says with a small sigh. He shakes the doctor's hand and then puts an arm around my shoulder, and for the millionth time, we're walking back to the elevator.
"Icecream?" He says with a twinkle in his eye.
I laugh, "Icecream."
____________
The whole way to the ice cream store, I was thinking of different ways to bring up several subjects. How the heck are you supposed to do that? This isn't the way my life was supposed to go.Ah, making excuses now are we?
No.
And there's that denial. You're pathetic, did you know that?
Yea. You tell me every day.
Just making sure you remember.
Don't worry, I don't really need a reminder.
Well that's my job so, I don't exactly wanna go out of business ya feel me?
Yea.
Good.

{Asher POV}
Mr. Liam finally walks out the door, I must've been waiting behind these bushes for hours. I check my watch, it's only been 15 minutes.He's whistling some song that I don't recognize and spinning the keychain around his fingers. I wait until he gets in to make my move.
Finally he shuts the door behind him and I sprint over to his car and slide under. His car is remarkably high off of the ground and I'm able to grasp two pipes that are warming up quickly.
Man, Skyler knows her stuff... unless she was already planning on escaping. That would explain the map, how she knew the hours, and all that.
She was gonna frickin' leave us?!
I'm startled out of my thoughts as the car starts to back up and start rumbling down the long driveway. The pipes are overheating fast. I manage to put the sleeves of my hoodie over my hands so it doesn't hurt quite so bad. But that makes my grip extremely loose, and I feel like I'm about to let go. I keep my focus on Kiera and getting to her.
Suddenly Mr. Liam accelerates the car out of the gate and he's going way too fast for me to let go. If I did, I would certainly get knocked unconscious by hitting my head on the road. I start to panic.
My sleeves are slipping every second, and Mr. Liam hasn't slowed down at all.
I have mere seconds before I let go so I try to come up with a plan. But before I can even begin to think of one, my left hand slips and the momentum brings my right hand down. I'm aware of myself falling, and then suddenly there's nothing at all. I'm drowning in a black sea, unable to breath.
And then I'm taken by darkness.
