⚽️Chapter 33⚽️

{Asher POV}

After eight p.m., we're supposed to stay in our rooms. We can read or whatever but no walking around and no going in other people's rooms. As "strict" as people say this place is, it really just has a ton of stupid rules that people break all the time. 

Chase and I have decided to call the Evil Beast Lady "Roz". She's the scary secretary monster in the movie "Monsters, Inc." They're both terrifying and love paperwork, we figured it was perfect. 

"Hey, Chase." I say, sitting upright on my bed. 

"Yea?" He looks up from a book that he's been glued to for the past two days. 

"Do you think I'll ever talk to Kiera again?"

Chase is silent. 

"I miss her a lot." 

More silence. 

"Chase are you listening to me?" I glance up at him again. He's back to reading. 

"Huh? Oh right, you were talking to me." He gives me a sheepish smile. 

"Whatever, man." I lay back down on my bed. 

"Look, you and her weren't meant to be... You just need to let her go." He closes his book and rests his head in his hands. 

"But it feels so right when I'm with her. The way she smiles, the way her eyes sparkle when she's talking about something she's passionate about. I know we were meant to be." I sigh. 

"Well, then what's your plan?"

I look at him with curiosity in my eyes. 

"Plan for what?"

"Do I have to spell it out for you?" He rolls his eyes, "Your plan on how you'll blow this popsicle stand and find her." 

I look into his eyes, he's not joking. 

And so the plan begins.

{Kiera POV}

"Kieraaa."  Dustin complains.

"Yes?" I say in a motherly tone.

"I want food." He pouts.

"Get yourself some." 

He huffs and flops on my bed. "Too much work." 

"Well that's unfortunate." 

Alexis, Dustin, Cameron, and I are looking through my brother's stuff. We're trying to find something, anything, that relates to his death, girlfriend, or kid. 

"Dustin, you're so lazy." Cameron rolls his eyes. 

"Yea, and?" He raises an eyebrow like it's completely normal. Which, is very normal. 

"And you should make your own food." Cameron continues.

"Boys, if you keep arguing I'm gonna blow a fuse." Alexis steps in. They keep at it. 

"You make me food."

"Make your own."

"Fine! we'll go make some mac 'n' cheese. Happy?" Alexis says, looking at me. 

I don't remember signing up for this.

Dustin and Cameron look at each other with knowing grins. 

"Woohoo! Point for the boys!" Dustin fist bumps the air. 

"Nice job, my man." Cameron laughs and looks at me. 

"Oops." 

"Yea, oops." I say, narrowing my eyes at him. 

"I love you?" He's trying to make himself appear sweet. 

"I love you too." I grin at him. He's taken aback by this, and relaxes, giving me a cute smile. 

"Take that!" I yell, and punch his bicep. 

Cameron yelps like a scared puppy and starts rubbing his arm. 

"That'll teach you." I say with a smug grin.

"I deserved it." He laughs, "So, mac 'n' cheese?" 

"Fine." I roll my eyes. 

Alexis and I go downstairs and look for the box of mac 'n' cheese. 

"I swear we have some...it's just a matter of finding it." I say, opening a cupboard. 

"I'll go look downstairs real quick." Alexis says, and walks to the basement. 

After a few minutes I yell down the stairs, "Find anything?"

"Not mac 'n' cheese, but definitely something." She calls back. 

I haven't been in the basement in years. Who knows what she could've found. Maybe it's something pertaining to my brother. 

I reach the end of the stairs and squint my eyes, trying to find her. 

"I'm over here." She says softly.

"Are you gonna murder me?" I joke. 

"No you weirdo, look at this." She's around the corner. 

There's a tiny lightbulb hanging from the ceiling and something catches my eye. Something shiny.

"No..." I cover my mouth and gasp. 

"Now you know..." She says quietly. 

Not this. Not now.

I bet you all hate me, I'm so sorry for not updating. And I know this is a short chapter, but another one will be up really soon! I won't leave you guys at such an awful cliffhanger for long.
