*Liam's POV*

After we had gotten Stormy to calm down, I quickly excused us and practically dragged Chloe into the hallway. I had to restrain myself from slamming the door, closing it as softy as I could manage. I then spun on my heel to face Chloe.

"What the heck Chloe?! You can't DO that! You can't just drop the bomb like that! Wha...why should we break up? I thought we were doing just fine, I thought you were happy, I don't underst-"

"For crying out loud Liam you never pay any attention to me!" Chloe interrupted. I blinked a few times, caught off guard. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and held her tightly.

I gathered myself before I spoke again.

"What do you mean? Of course I pay attention to you Chloe. You're my girlfriend for goodness sake." Chloe just shook her head, fresh tears had started to fall.

"No, Liam. You don't..." She faded. I waited for her to continue. "I've tried breaking up with you before, but you were too busy worrying about Stormy to hear what I was saying. "

I shook my head again.

"What? When?" I asked.

"Last week... The second day Stormy was in the hospital."

"Chloe, listen to yourself! Of course I was worried about her! She's my best friend and she could've DIED." I emphasized. I crossed my arms over my chest, trying to push away the upset feeling in my gut.

"I know! I know I sound like a terrible person, but that's really when I realized that I would always come second to her, and I can't do that. I can't be your second Liam, I'm sorry." She whispered, then turned to run down the hall. I stood there and watched her run away instead of chase after her like I should've.

"I love you!" I shouted after her. Her run slowed to a walk, before she stopped.

I felt the hope rise up on my chest.

Only to have that hope ripped right back out.

She slowly turned to face me, my eyes intently studying her face. She gave me a small smile, but her eyes looked sad. Her face gave her the look of a broken girl. She looked like her heart was hurting, and there wasn't anything she could do to fix it herself.

I did this, I did this to her. I broke Chloe, I broke her precious heart.

I had left her like Danielle had left me...

"I love you too, LiLi." I smiled bigger at the sound of her nickname for me. "But you love her too."

"It's not the same-"

"You're right Li," she ran a hand through her hair, frustrated. "It's not the same, you love her more than you do me. I do believe that you love me. But I KNOW that you'll eventually choose her. This is it, Liam. I enjoyed being your girlfriend for 3 months, but-"

"2 months, 27 days..." I said quietly.

"What?"

I repeated myself, but louder this time.

"2 months, 27 days. Our 3 month mark was next week." Chloe just nodded.

"Well in that case, I enjoyed our 2 months & 27 days together..." She smiled. "Bye Liam."

"Goodbye Chloe." I felt a year slip down my cheek. I was crying. Dang it! Be a man Payne.

I stood there and watched Chloe turn and walk away from me. Away from my life forever. As much as I wanted to chase after her, I knew it would be a waste of time. One thing I learned about that girl during our time as a couple was that once she decided something, there was no changing her mind. It was one of the things I loved about her.
