Chapter 6 : Just Like Mom
****

Grace's POV
4 days later...

I woke up to the sounds of machines. I couldn't come up with where I was. I started to open my eyes and I was able to identify that I was in a hospital room. I couldn't remember anything from the night hat happened a couple days ago. It's all so blurry. A nurse came in with a doctor, well at least I thought it was. They we're surprised to see I was awake and asked when I woke up. I said just a couple of minutes ago.

"What happened to me? What happened to the night a couple of days ago? What happened to my dad?" I blasted a load of questions at the doctor. "That night it is to be believed a burglar was in your house and we guessed that you were hit on the head with a hard object by the burglar. You received a small fracture in your skull because of that. Your dad found the tow of you and he jumped at the burglar and were wrestling until the burglar shot you dad 4 times. That's when the burglar took you outside and dragged you down the stairs which is what the man that saved you said he saw. The man that saved you wrestled the robber and I guess you somehow managed to call the police somewhere in that time frame. If it wasn't for that young man, you could've died." I got blasted with information. I started to remember the part when my dad got shot. I felt a tear fall from one of my eyes onto my cheek.

"What happened to my dad?" I repeated the question. The doctor had a sour face on and started speaking. "Your dad passed away last night from extreme blood loss and a bullet through the heart. You couldn't go to see him since you were in coma for the past few days." The doctor finished but then continued. "You had extreme blood loss too, but the young an who saved you had been the same person to be your blood doner. I'm sorry for your loss. Your dad sacrificed himself for you." The nurse beside him came close to me and whispered in my ear. "You fought and you won the fight. But sweetheart you may have lost someone special in your life but you never lost the special moments you and your father had. Cherish those moments. I wish you all the best luck, I'm sorry for your loss." I recognized that voice from anywhere. It was one of the small things I could only remember form that night. I remember I was in the ambulance, I think, and she whispered in my ear to fight. I bursted into tears as the nurse gave me a hug, she started letting me go since she was called to see another patient. I cried myself to sleep on the hospital bed that night.

I woke up in tears and I was screaming because I didn't take any of those pills. The nurse that always gave me the amazing advise came running in worrisome.
"Honey are you ok? Are you in pain?" The nurse asked in a comforting voice. I then explained her why I needed to take those pills and how I have no parents now. I trusted her with this because if you met her, you would tell her all your secrets. She saw that I was tired so she left and quickly came back with the pills I need to take before I fall asleep. I took two of them and the last thing I saw was the nurse. She was beautiful. Short dark brown hair that was almost black. She didn't that's pale skin or tan, she was black. Her skin colour didn't matter to me, because she felt like what it used to be like with mom before she died, comforting and safe. She sounded just like mom even though she wasn't her.

It was the next morning and I woke up in more of a happy mood since the pain wasn't so bad and I took those pills so I got a good night sleep. I found a sticky note on my hand as I started to read it.

"I hope you had a good night sleep. I'll be back seeing you soon but make sure never to leave your room."
