Alex's POV
I never knew what Kelley went through before and now that her mom just passed away I just can't even imagine how she's feeling in the inside. My heart aches for her and I would do anything for her to not go through this.
The next morning I woke up and slowly got out of bed not wanting to wake up Kelley. I grabbed my phone and stepped out of my room to call Jill.
"Alex, good morning." Jill says
"Good morning. I um have to tell you something that happened..."
"What is it?"
"Kelley's mom passed away yesterday."
"Are you serious? What happened?" Jill asked with concern in her voice.
"She had a stroke and collapsed causing bleeding in her head and they couldn't fix it..."
"Oh my gosh.. How's Kelley?"
"She's a mess right now."
"That's terrible. Tell her to take as much time off as she needs. Losing someone close is always hard and I want her to have time off."
"Okay I will. And can I maybe stay here with her for just a day to make sure she's alright?"
"Yea of course. Thank you for informing me. I will keep Kelley and her family in my prayers." Jill says.
"Thank you. I'll see you in a couple days." I said as I hang up the phone.
After that I went back to my room where Kelley was awake.
"Hey Kel." I said softly. "I just called Jill. She said to take as much time off as you need."
"Okay." Kelley says weakly.
"Can I get you anything?" I asked.
"I lost my mom, I'm not disabled I can get what I need." Kelley says with a little anger in her voice as she gets out of my bed. Then she goes to the bathroom. I sit next to the bathroom not knowing what Kelley might do in there.
"Kelley hurry up." I said knocking on the door but she didn't respond.
"Kelley." I said a little louder knocking in the door more. Then Kelley opens the door.
"Can you stop pounding on the door?!? Can I not use the bathroom without getting disturbed?" Kelley screams in my face.
"I'm sorry i don't know what you're doing in there!" I scream back."
"What would I possibly do in there?" Kelley says.
"Well I don't know, maybe you should take a look at you're god damn wrists!"
Then Kelley looks at me with a black expression on her face. Then she rolls up her sleeve and looks at her wrist.
"I'm sorry." Kelley says.
"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be yelling at you."
"What did I do to deserve this?" Kelley asked.
"You didn't do anything Kel. It's just part of life."
"Well then I don't want to live this life anymore." Kelley says as a tear escapes her eyes.
"Don't say that Kelley. You have a lot in your life that's worth living for." I said as I walk over to her.
"Like what?"
"Me." I said as I put my lips against hers. "Trust me, I'm worth it. When you have me you'll have someone beside you forever."
"Don't ever leave me Alex. Because of you now I feel like I have a reason to keep living my life."
"I never want to leave you Kel. I'll always be here for you. Got it?"
Kelley looks at me and nods her head yes as I pull her in for a hug.
Two days later I had to go back to the national team. I packed my stuff and got ready to go to the airport. When I was ready Kelley came over to my house.
"Are you gonna be okay here?" I asked her.
"I'll be fine. I'll be back the national team soon." Kelley says.
"Okay. Call me if you need anything. I'll see you soon, I love you." I said as I gave Kelley a hug.
"I love you to Alex. Thank you."
Then I got into my parents car and gave one last wave to Kelley before the car left the driveway.

When I was back in New York, I went to the team hotel and went back to my room.
"Hey Alex." Tobin says as I drop my stuff down and collapse on my bed."
"Hey Tobs."
"So how was your couple days off? Weren't you in Georgia?"
"Yea and it was fine."
"Okay." Tobin says as she continues what she was doing on her phone.
Just then there was a knock on the door. I got up and opened it to see Hope.
"Hey Alex. Can I talk to you?" Hope says. I nod my head yes and follow her out.
"What's up?" I ask.
"I heard about what happened with Kelley's mom. How is She?"
"She's fine. She's taking some time off to be with her family."
"Okay." Hope says.
"I wish you did it to me."
"Do what?" Hope asked.
"I wish I was the one you picked on and made fun of. Not Kelley. I wish I was the one that almost killed herself and Kelley the one saving me. It should be switched because Kelley is so delicate and she deserves a lot better then what she got. And Hope, I know I've told you this many times but I need you to take care of Kelley when I can't. I wish I could do everything but I just can't."
"I will. I promise."
"Make her a priority."
"Okay." Hope says. I give her a small smile then walk back to my room.
When I got back to my room I saw Tobin putting a sweatshirt on.
"Where you going?" I asked.
"I'm going to take a walk. It's nice outside." Tobin says.
"Can I join you?"
"Of course. Grab a sweatshirt it's a little windy."
