Mark's POV
I sat in the cafeteria, waiting for his play practice to finish. I told him I wanted to walk home with him today and tell him about my dream. It seemed odd, but one of the scariest parts about it was watching him kiss another girl. I had almost stopped thinking about the monster thing, the image of Jack's lips attached to someone else frozen in my mind.
Suddenly the sweet sound of music drifted down the halls, filling my mind with calm. I heard a piano and a girl singing. Suddenly the girl stopped singing and an even more musical voice filled my ears. This time it was a guy's voice.
I stood and started to walk towards the music room. The piano continued to play and the boy continued to sing. I quickly glanced in the window and saw Jack sitting at a piano, singing the words off of a sheet. The girl joined in once again and they sang a lovely duet. I moved back from the door, making sure Jack didn't see me. I continued to listen. Jack was so in to the music, so entranced by the sound resonating from the piano and his voice. You could hear how passionate he was when he sang. It was beautiful...
The song ended and the girl spoke. "I'm sure these lyrics will work, don't you think?"
"They're amazing! I can't wait to show the others." Jack said excitedly.
"So I'm part of the band?" She said sweetly.
"Of course. I doubt that we would go anywhere without you." Jack said softly. Suddenly he stopped.
"Uh, I uh, don't feel comfortable practicing this scene yet." He said to the girl. I couldn't see what was going on, but I continued to listen.
"Jack, you are NEVER comfortable with doing this scene." The girl said with an annoyed voice.
"I just... I'm not ready, and... It's just a wierd scene." Jack said nervously.
"Fine, but we have to do it some time." The girl said kindly.
"I know. Hey, a friend is waiting for me. I have to go, okay?" Jack said. My eyes widened and I ran back to my seat in the cafeteria. I pulled my bag over my shoulder and my phone out of my pocket. I scrolled through random apps, trying to look natural. Jack rounded the corner and saw me. "Hey, Mark."
"Oh, hey." I smiled at Jack. A girl followed behind him, holding a black binder.
"Jack! You forgot your script." She handed him the binder. She had tan skin, and long black curly hair. She was only an inch or two taller than Jack.
"Oh, thanks Molly." Jack said. He turned to me. "Mark, this is Molly." His smile dropped, "She's in the play..." He said quietly.
"Hello!" I waved at Molly. She nodded and pulled her bag over her shoulder.
"Nice to meet you. See you Monday, Jack!" She walked out the doors of the cafeteria.
Jack anxiously turned to me. "C'mon. Let's go." He walked off towards the doors and I followed close behind. He froze right as he opened the large glass doors. "Shit, it's raining." He rolled his eyes, "I don't have an umbrella."
"I don't either. It's not raining that hard, only sprinkling." I smiled. We both stepped out and began walking, light drips of water sprinkling my glasses. "I didn't know you could play piano."
"Y-You heard me?" Jack's eyes went wide.
"And you're a really good singer." I smirked at Jack, watching his blush grow darker.
"Mark, are you deaf?" Jack furrowed his eyebrows.
"If I'm answering your question, then no." I chuckled. More water splattered on my glasses, and my vision became blurry.
"Mark, we were rehearsing a scene... No spoilers!" Jack pouted. He suddenly noticed my glasses, and took them.
"Hey!" I shouted at Jack. He used his sleeve and cleaned the water off for me, and put them back in their place.
"There." Jack smirked at me. I smiled and rolled my eyes, pushing my glasses up on my nose. Jack reached up for my glasses and straightened them.
We continued walking, and soon enough my glasses were blurry again. This time Jack didn't even take my glasses off, he just reached up and swiped them with his sleeve.
"Jesus, you scared me!" I gasped when Jack lifted his hand to my face. "Why do you keep cleaning my glasses?"
Jack straightened them once again. He sighed as we both stopped walking and he looked at my glasses. "I dunno, I like your glasses. They look nice." He stared straight through the glass and looked me in the eyes. "But I like your eyes more. They are brown, like chocolate, and when you're happy they shine bright. I can tell whatever you're feeling by just looking into your eyes." He took my hands in his. "And they're pretty. You have beautiful eyes, and the rain gets in the way of that." He smiled as if he were daydreaming.
I couldn't speak. I looked into his baby blue eyes and felt my face heat up.
"Hah, made you blush!" Jack teased as he turned away and continued walking.
