Mark's POV

I sat alone at home. My parents were at work and my siblings were out with friends, so I had nothing to do. I decided to turn on some video games, but I was still extremely bored. I was wandering around Among the Sleep when my phone buzzed.

Hey! I'm going to have some friends over to play games. You wanna join?
-Jackaboy

I smiled at the text, clicked off my phone and stuck it in my pocket. I swung my legs over the edge of my bed and stood up. I ran to the bathroom to fix myself up. I picked up my hair brush and felt my phone vibrate again.

I'll come pick you up if you want?

My smile widened at his offer. I quickly replied and ran to my bedroom.

M
Yeah! Thanks :)

J
No problem! I'll be there in 30 minutes :D

I dug through my drawers for a nice outfit. I found my red flannel and a pair of jeans. It's simple but nice, right?

I changed and turned to the full body mirror on my wall. I jumped back for a second, then I remembered I had dyed my hair bright red. I ran a brush through my hair and floofed it up.

Before I knew it I heard the doorbell ring. I pulled on my shoes and ran to the door. I opened the door to see Jack with a baggy black sweater, ripped jeans, a beanie, and converse. He actually looked really good.

"Hey, new hair." He smiled shyly at me.

"Yeah, I figured it was time for a change." I ran a hand through my hair. "You dyed yours, too." I looked at the little tufts sticking out of his beanie.

"But it's still green..." He looked to his feet.

"I like the green. It looks really nice on you." I stepped out and shut the door behind me. Jack smiled and bit his lip, avoiding my gaze.

"Well, this is my car." It was a little white car, a bit banged up but it was still pretty decent. Jack opened the door for me and let me in. I nodded silently and he shut the door once I was seated. He walked around the front of the car, dragging his hand along the hood. He sat down in his own seat and started the car.

The radio turned on and some rock band started playing. Jack quietly sang along as he drove down my street and turned the corner.

"Hey, what band is this?" I asked after a few moments of silence, trying to start up a conversation.

"Skillet. They're awesome!" Jack said excitedly. We talked about music all the way down to Jack's house, laughing, goofing off, and turning on several different bands.

Finally Jack pulled up to his house. We stepped out of the car and walked up to the door. Jack swung open the door and let me in. He shut it behind me and sat down on the couch.

After a few minutes people started to arrive. Molly, Bob, Wade, and a guy named Felix.

"Hey, Felix!" Jack said when the last person arrived. He gave him a quick fist bump and invited him to sit down. I assumed he was a close friend. "Mark, this is Bob and Wade. They're in a couple of your classes." Jack gestured to two tall guys.
