In this book there are actually a lot of Easter eggs. I didn't really come up with the idea until much later, but it created a lot of questions in the story.

There are a LOT of spoilers. And none of this will make sense if you don't read the book.
It's really long and probably dumb but here are the answers to most of your questions! ^-^

1st Egg
Chapter 7

Jack's head shot up and looked at me.
"Uh, n-no thanks... Sorry..." He scooped up his bag, "I have to get to rehearsal." He stated simply and started to walk away.
"Hey! What's wrong?" I asked softly and put my hand on his shoulder.
"N-Nothing." His body faced towards me, but he avoided my gaze.
"Are you sure? I can stay with you at rehearsal-" I offered.
"NO!" He shouted and interrupted me.

This was the first hint that something was going to happen during the play that Jack didn't want Mark to see.
2nd Egg
Chapter 8 (basically the entire chapter, but I want to show a specific part)

I turned my head and saw Jack, his hands on the waist of some random girl. He pressed her slowly against the wall. Their faces moved apart, but a string of saliva still connected their lips. Jack began to slowly kiss down her jawline and to her neck. She gasped and he licked the sensitive skin on the base of her neck. He suddenly bit down and started sucking on her neck. She gasped and grabbed onto his hair.
I backed away slowly. Somehow I couldn't stand to see Jack kiss another girl. A small whimper escaped my lips and Jack lifted his head. He turned to me and smirked widely.

"I want..." He leaned closer, our lips brushing against each other.
My breathing hitched.
"You to get the fuck away from me." He took a step back. Suddenly he was covered in blood, red ick dripping from his long black claws. He was a monster...
But I was frozen...
I couldn't run...
He laughed darkly...

This chapter showed Mark's 3 main fears: Jack loving someone else, Jack pushing Mark away, and Jack being just as cruel as everyone says he is.
He also has visions of him and Jack in the future. Happy memories of Jack and Mark together in the kitchen and such. This is an early sign of Mark falling in love with Jack; he desires to be with him for a long time.
3rd Egg
Chapter 12

"Oh I've never been hiking before!"

1. Jack doesn't often do activities such as hiking. Even tiny walks through a forest can be counted as a short hike. This shows that Jack may have some issues with being allowed to do things alone or with other people to do things such as hiking.
2. Mark finally admitting to himself that he may be falling for Jack.
4th Egg
Chapter 13

"Mark! Don't you EVER think I'd hurt you!" He cried out. He was bawling into my shoulder. "No, Mark, Nonononono!" He said over and over.
