The sun shining through the windows was exactly what I needed in order to start my day. I could've laid in the same spot on the floor all day if I wanted to, but I know that wouldn't be acceptable. I sat up stretching out my back, before taking a look around the room. Since arriving in Alexandria, Rick has had us all sleeping under the same roof. He needed to make sure this place was truly trustworthy before he set us on our own. I don't think anyone really minded being together, it made everyone feel at ease knowing where we all were. This arrangement also made sure nobody got hurt just in case there was something messed up with this place. But, I'm pretty sure this whole ordeal is going to be coming to an end really soon.
After one last stretch I got up from my spot in between Isaac, and Addison and made my way into the kitchen. I was leaning up against the island slowly sipping on my glass of water when Carl appeared out of the corner of my eye.
"Good morning." he yawned stretching his arms above his head. For some reason every time I heard that deep, raspy morning voice of his, it made me feel some type of way. I gave him a toothy grin to which he just shook his head.
"So what's your plans for today?" I asked him mostly because I was curious, but also because I was helping Deanna with something and I didn't know if she asked Carl too.
"I don't have any. I may take Judith around, but for now that's about it."
"Deanna has me working on some plans with her about future renovations, and then I may stop over and see if Jessie can cut this mess I like to call my hair."
"Are you sure you're not just going over so you can see Ron." he sighed rolling his eyes.
"What are you talking about? Why would you think I want to see him?" I stared at him confused. I mean I was going to his house, of course i'll see him, but my intentions aren't to go over just to see him.
"You guys were flirting with each other the whole night." he sighed again dragging out the whole part.
"Carl, chill I barely know him." I laughed squeezing his shoulder as I walked passed him and back into the living room. I noticed everyone awake, but nobody made an effort to move. Finally one by one they all got up and went in different directions to start whatever they had planned for the day. I was just about to walk into the in the house to change, when I saw Noah sitting alone underneath the gazebo.
I decided to go see what's up. When I got there I noticed he had a black book with nothing written in it and seemed to be in deep thought.
"Hey Noah, what's up?" I asked taking a seat next to him.
"Hey Ken." he said in such a sad way I couldn't even enjoy the fact he called me by my nickname.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Its nothing, I'm okay." he reassured me with a slight smile.
"I don't believe you." I pushed. I wanted to know what was wrong. Noah and I were pretty close mostly because we both went through the same things in the hospital. Also the fact we both volunteered ourselves to go back into that hell just so the other could have a chance at a family. After everything with Beth he was the one who was there for me, well besides Maggie, but he knew what nobody else in the group would ever know. That's what made our bond special.
"I don't think I can live in this world anymore."
"Noah what are you talking about? Of course you ca-
"I've been through so much, I've lost so much, I just can't handle it anymore." he sighed making no effort to look at me. "I'm useless especially in this world."
"Noah you are not useless. You are anything but. What you've been through has made you stronger. Yes did it leave a huge impact? Of course, but it changed you for the better. If you weren't meant for this world you would've been gone a long time ago.You are capable of living in this world only if you believe you can."
"I wish I believed that." he sighed as he adverted his eyes towards the ground. I grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled in into a well needed hug.
"Am I interrupting something?" a familiar voice asked from behind me.
"Hey Reg." Noah smiled to the best of his ability.
"I just came by cause I know you needed to talk. Is this a bad time?" he asked looking between Noah and I. I got the hint and stood up.
"Not at all, I was just leaving. It was really nice talking to you Noah and I hope you'll listen to what I said." I smiled and he nodded. I said bye to both of them before making my way into the house to change so I could help Deanna.
~~~
I didn't have much to contribute to Deanna's plans since most of them were already though out ahead of time. I thought I would've been there till night, but due to my little help she said I could go enjoy the rest of my day. I was grateful for that because I desperately needed my haircut and was worried that I would be stuck doing plans all day I wouldn't have time to see Jessie.
I was just about to walk up and knock on the door when it was suddenly pushed open almost hitting into me. I looked up to see Ron running down his front yard.
"What the hell Ron!" I yelled since he wasn't in talking range.
"What!" He yelled back
"Seriously, pay attention next time you open the door." I huffed and he just smirked before laughing and mustering a quick sorry before running off to whatever he was doing.
"I thought I heard you out here." I heard Jessie say as she rounded the corner of the house.
"Hey Jessie. I was about to knock, but Ron kinda opened the door for me I guess."
"I have no idea why he has to be in such a rush. There isn't a whole lot of exciting things to do around here that he would need to run. But anyways, what can I do for you?"
"I was wondering if you could cut my hair?" I said but it came out more like a question.
"Of course come on back." she said waving her arm in a follow me motion.
Once I was in the garage I took a seat where she told me to and she began to work on my hair.
We talked about everything and anything while she worked on me. As she was finishing up he arm reached over to brush the hair off my shoulders and I noticed a bruise on her wrist that looked fresh.
"Are you okay Jessie?" I asked and when she looked at me confused I pointed towards her wrist and I noticed her face go pale.
"Uh yeah I'm a klutz what can I say." she nervously laughed and that's when I knew she wasn't telling the truth.
"It looks like someone grabbed your wrist with a lot of force." I observed but she only tried to hind it and think of other excuses. Just as I was about to say something else she beat me to it.
"It's getting late I think you should start heading home." she sighed bending down and picking up what she used on my hair.
"But its still light out." I said trying to win this but unfortunately I didn't.
"Kennedy." she said looking at me with such a stern motherly face and at that point I knew I had to go or else the full mom in her would come out and I didn't want that. I sighed in defeat before telling her thank you and goodbye before I started making my way back to my house. On the way back I couldn't help but wonder what the truth was behind her fresh bruise.
