A party. Nick and May dragged me to a party. Vance Rock, the king of the stoners and drunks at our school was having a party....again, on the same day of the week he hosted every other party.

I was leaning against the wall, staring down at my disgusting drink and thinking about our Christmas Vacation. I was also stressing about college. Brown was my dream school, and I admitted my application and E.D. there. It was early december, and I still hadn't heard from them.

I got looks from a few people and rolled my eyes. I was wearing board shorts and a tucked in white t-shirt, they told me we were going to the beach. I mean I guess they weren't lying, since Vance's house was on the beach but they could've just told me they were going to a party. Vance and his brother were notorious for getting knocked out halfway through the night.

"Cat." I blocked out whoever was talking to me and continued thinking. "Cat-" The voice started again. I knew who it was, and it just made me smile discreetly, my toes tingling with excitement.

"Shut up." I put a finger up and returned to my train of thought.

"-earth to Cat." The voice continued.

I looked up and saw Chase. He grinned at me, and I sighed, trying not to grin back.

"You interrupted my train of thought." I said.

"Oh well." He shrugged and pulled me close to him. I looked at his lips as he looked at mine, and gulped. His brown eyes found my green ones, and he smiled. He always seemed to be able to make me flustered.

I rolled my eyes at him playfully and he smirked. He pressed his lips to mine and I closed my eyes as I kissed him back. He pulled my waist until there was no space in between us. I could feel his chest rising and falling as he deepened the kiss.

My skin tingled as his hands slipped under my shirt and touched my back. My fingers found his cheeks, and I shuddered when his hands moved on my skin. He kissed me again, and I smiled against his lips.

"You're adorable." He murmured and looked at me. Our faces were inches apart, and my skin was on fire from his touch. "Can I ask you something?" He says.

=Kayden's P.O.V=

I walked into Vance Rock's house and looked for Cat. Nick walked over to me and handed me a beer. I sighed and took a sip.

"Where's Cat?" I wondered.

"You mean the girl you're hopelessly in love with?" He rolled his eyes.

"I am not hopelessly in love with Cat, we're just friends. I've known her since I was just a kid." I lied and looked around. The truth is I've always loved Cat. Some part of me has always known she doesn't love me back, but I have hope.

"Keep telling yourself that." Nick said as he laughed.

"Hey guys." May walked over. Nick looked at her, and she smiled. "I got into Dartmouth." She said happily.

"Congrats babe!" Nick said and hugged her. He kissed her and I rolled my eyes.

"Congratulations." I said with a sigh.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"Cat." Nick told her.

"Shut up, Nick." I rolled my eyes.

"Just talk to her." May told me. "I know that you really like her, so don't let life pass you by." She said.

"I guess you're right. Congrats on Dartmouth." I told her again.

"Let's go do a victory dance!" Nick said and threw his arms around May. She laughed as he spun her around, and they started dancing in the living room.

"What are they so happy about?" Isaac asked when he walked over.

"May got into her top school." I told him.

"They're such a lovey dovey couple." He rolled his eyes. "Do you think they'll last?"

"Why do you care?" I asked.

"I don't know." He shrugged and walked off. He was clearly a little drunk.

"You're so stupid!" We heard a familiar voice shout. A few people in the main entrance room looked at Cat as she walked out into the open, followed by Chase. He grabbed her hand and she pulled away.

"Cat, I'm sorry, I was just kidding." He apologized.

"You are so ridiculous. You think that because someone doesn't appreciate you that no one does. You think that no one cares about you but they do. You're rude and mean and selfish. You don't care about other people's feelings and you are so freaking annoying sometimes. You complain about bad things in your life and you don't even realize that it's your fault you feel so lonely! You think that you're the only one who's ever been hurt, well you aren't, and anytime we try to comfort you, you push us away. And you call yourself a Monster but you aren't a monster Chase." She clamped her hands over her mouth and blushed deeply as everyone stared. "I-" She started.

He grabbed her waist and put his lips on hers. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him back as my heart shattered into a million pieces. I gulped as people whistled and cheered. I turned around and tried to get the water out of my eyes.

"Kayden..." Nick started as the music went back on. I looked behind me to see that they were still making out like there was no tomorrow. Cat broke away and Chase smirked.

"Why do you always do that?" She wondered and hit his chest playfully. "You know I can't hold grudges." Cat looked over at us, and her eyes met mine. She walked over with Chase, and I sighed.

"I'll see you guys at school on Monday, I have to go home." I told them and started walking away.

"Wait Kayden, what's wrong?" Cat grabbed my arm and I pulled away. I didn't want to look at her right now.

"I just don't feel well." I lied and continued walking.

"Do you want me to go with you?" She wondered and I almost screamed out of frustration. How could she be that blind? It's not like I was subtle about it.

"No." I shook my head and walked out of the house.

"Kayden, what's going on, I know you." She stopped me and I turned around. Nick, May and Chase all walked out too.

"Seriously Cat!" I yelled.

"What?" She asked, clearly confused.

"How-" I stopped myself. "You're not as smart as you think you are. Cat, I've known you since I can remember and I've been in love with you since I knew what love was. I've been here for you Cat, through everything. Through your mom, your dad and your brothers. I was right here, and then you just go with Chase Ross of all people." Her expression was just shock. "Cat, I love you, and I'm sorry that I didn't tell you sooner but I was worried it would mess up our friendship. But you clearly don't feel the same way."

"Kayden......." She sighed as she looked at me. I could tell she didn't care about the way I cared about her, and it broke my heart.

"I mean how can you just fall for him like that? He doesn't care about you, he's just using you like he uses everyone." I say, and Cat purses her lips. "God Cat, just look at him, he doesn't want a relationship, okay, he doesn't even know what love is, he just wants sex."

"Kayden, don't be a dick, just-" Chase starts.

"No, just don't say anything. I'm just gonna go home." I shook my head and headed for my car.

She didn't feel the same way. The girl I had spent years pining over didn't love me back. I don't know what I expected, I'd seen the way she looked at Chase, and the way he looked at her.

She didn't love me back.
