"you should really go to sleep, cal." luke says, a sympathetic smile on his face as he looks at his best friend, who looks like a dead rat (an adorable one though), through the little screen of his phone.

calum waves his hand infront of his face and blinks a few times, obviously trying to not fall asleep right there and then. "it's okay, lukey. i want to talk to you."

luke sighs and shakes his head. he wants to talk to calum – he always does – but he really looks like a dead rat and luke doesn't like it. calum is missing sleep because of him and he feels guilty about it. "we can talk later, cal."

calum huffs and rolls his eyes. "how was your day?" he says in-between a long yawn, trying to change the subject. he looks cute, to say at-least; with his brown knitted sweater and his dark curly hair all over the place.

luke may never admit it, but he has had a crush on calum for some time now. he realized it way back when they were still together in sydney. they were having a scary movie marathon on christmas (a tradition. a blink-182 thing) and it was something about the way calum looked on those sweatpants. or maybe it was just the way calum would hold his hand when luke got scared.

he would never tell calum, though. reasons? 1) calum is his best friend. 2) he is absolutely too much for luke. 3) calum isn't even gay. 4) and even if he was, luke knows he'd never like him back.

luke smiles softly. "go to sleep, cal. i know you're tired. we can talk later, okay?"

calum groans and rubs his forehead. "fine. fine. but can you sing to me, please?"

"i don't sing, calum."

calum laughs, soft and quiet. "of course you do. luke, sing to me."

"what song?" luke asks. he has never considered himself a good singer, but, somehow, calum managed to like his voice.

"uh," calum closes his eyes and hums. "all i want by kodaline. i love when you sing that one."

"alright," the blonde lays down on his bed and places his phone beside him; calum does the same.

"you can start." calum whispers.

luke sings to calum the best he can without crying (the song is really emotional. also, he misses calum a lot). it almost feels like he is laying right beside him.

all he wants is for calum to come back.
