Chapter 34: Where There Is Good, Bad Follows

Rider rubbed my shoulder. "It's not your fault she died." His normal warmth flooded into me but I didn't want his comfort. I didn't want someone to cuddle me and tell me it was alright. I need someone who....the door to my lab room opened and Jacob strolled in. He instantly glared daggers at Rider.

"You're angry and you're sitting here, waiting for it to burn off," Jacob stated. I smirked. He knew me well. "If you're angry do something with it." Rider pulled me closer to him and I flooded in his warmth. No. I didn't want to be soothed. I ripped free of his grasp and glared ahead at Jacob. He's right. I need to channel my anger into finding a way out of here. Eight days. Eight dwindling days and we're leaving one way or another. "Take your anger out," Jacob instructed. My power buzzed around my hands. "Do it," Jacob whispered. I lunged forward but he'd expected me to. Jacob backed me up against the wall and blocked me in. My breath caught as I looked up into his stunningly dark and handsome features. I could tell he was angry as well, though neither one of us could just go outside on a killing spree. That would get us nowhere. So I might as well just tell him...

Amusement crossed his eyes. I playfully pushed him. "Take out your anger too." He smashed his lips against mine. He pushed up the wall, causing my feet to lift off the floor. I wrapped my legs around his waist and he placed his hands carefully on my cheek. I smiled against his lips, waiting for his power to fill me. My soul craved for his power to fill me, to comfort me. On cue, his power forcefully entered. I loved how sure it was. My stomach got butterflies as soon as his darkness consumed me. I could just practically feel Rider's anger rolling off of him. He stormed out the room. That just gave us the privacy we needed.

I wrapped my hands around Jacob's hair and tugged slightly. Our lips moved perfectly together and my heart pounded at our closeness. I needed him. He had exactly what I needed. I flooded my power into him and couldn't help but feel perfect. He was perfect. We were perfect. Jacob broke away and began to kiss sweetly down my neck. I closed my eyes and felt his soft lips against my skin. He was easing away my anger. I wasn't sure how, but it was working. Abruptly, he found my sweet spot. He bit roughly and sucked. I bit my lip in attempt to hold it in. Don't moan. Don't. I moaned. As soon as I did, he shoved me further up the wall and pulled closer. Jacob carefully placed me back onto the ground and I slid my hands under his shirt. A weird feeling erupted in me. Question: what does he do to me? Answer: I don't know. I like it. I ran my fingers over defined abs and I smiled. Jacob wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me roughly. More. I wanted more.

"What are you doing to me?" Jacob whispered, his lips brushing my earlobe. His voice was husky and it sent shivers down my spine.

"Jacob," my voice caught as he kissed my cheek lightly. "I think..." I was breathless. His hands on my waist were making it hard for me to focus. We couldn't do this. I knew what he was. What we were. We couldn't do this. Adian would find out. "I think you're my soul mate."

Someone began clapping from the doorway. Jacob turned and Doctor Jackal stood leaning against the frame. "Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner." No. This can't happen.

"If you think I'm letting him take you, you're an idiot," I whispered in Jacob's ear. He smirked and pushed me behind him.

"We will be testing on you shortly. Enjoy the time you have with her. Your souls will be ripped," Doc said as he turned to leave. I attempted to fling myself forward but Jacob held me back. What was he doing ? Let me attack him!

"Relax. We need to focus. We just have to get out of here."

"Okay fine," I sighed. Jacob intertwined our fingers and his darkness danced around my hands. "You are not leaving my sight," I instructed. "I've just found you. I'm not about to lose you."

Jacob rolled his eyes, "I'm protecting you, my queen. Not the other way around." I shot him a warning glance. He ignored it, "Whatever you say. Me and you. We'll do this." Question: If Jacob is my soul mate does that mean he's king? Question: Why did Adian want to link our souls. Answer: I was going to have to ask him....
