"From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things, but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence. Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin."
Proverbs 13:2-3 NIV
💟Serena's POV💟
The rest of the week has gone by... rather slowly. But it was finally Friday, and Jacob and I finished our project. We had finished it on Wednesday and had Thursday to relax.
"Alright class, you have until the end of the day to pass in the project, but if you pass it in now, you will receive five bonus points." Ms. Larson says. Jacob and I share grins.
I walk up to her desk and put our project in the bin.
Walking back, Jacob says, "I think we got an 105."
"Don't get even more cocky, Jacob. What happens if we get an eighty?"
"What do you mean 'even more'?" He questions.
I laugh,"You were already cocky, so assuming that we aced the project makes you even more cocky. It's a fact."
"Whatever." He grumbles, causing me to giggle and pinch his pouted cheeks.
The rest of class consists of many many notes to write down.
Lunch is finally next and I meet Becca at our lockers to head down together.
"Oh my gosh." Becca whispers.
"What?" I ask.
"It's Friday." She says, stating the obvious.
"Did you just know notice?" I question, slightly scared for her well-being.
"Of course I did, I just didn't really realize it until now."
"Okay..." I slowly turn my gaze away from her.
"Let's just go to lunch." She blushes, embarrassed from her sentences.
I laugh as we enter the cafeteria, heading straight to the lunch line.
I grab a burger and a coke. Becca reaches for a salad, then changes her decision and picks up a pizza with water.
I smile encouragingly to her.
"Thank you." She says, referring to our earlier conversation a while back.
"Don't mention it."
After paying, we head for our usual table, greeting everyone as we sit.
For the next ten minutes, we are all talking and laughing. That is until Nick comes to our table.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Jacob wanted me to tell you that you guys got a 100 on the project." He states.
"Why didn't he tell me himself?" Is he that busy?
"He's getting his lunch and he was too excited to keep you waiting." He's so weird.
"Okay, well thank you for telling me."
"Becca. Troy. Sam." He nods to each person. "Hailey." He sneers, then walks away.
"What was that about?" I ask Hailey.
"He's just mad that I got a better grade on a test. On all tests in the classes we share." She frowns.
"Nick cares about grades?" I ask. He doesn't seem like the person to.
"Yeah, since freshman year. So he hates me and I hate him." Her face impassive throughout the whole conversation.
