Chapter 18

Julian was an idiot.

A brainless moron whom didn't understand the concept 'Don't trust strangers.'

He was a maggot assed monkey whom I unfortunately loved to bits.

"You couldn't take me anywhere else, Julian?" I looked at the dumbass shit stain. Hey, I may love him to bits, but that doesn't mean I won't curse him out to the ends of the world. "And I do mean anywhere else, your friends maybe. A hotel maybe. Fucking Antarctica for all I care! Why Liam's? You don't even properly know him to trust him with me."

The mention of the lack of engagement with Liam suddenly turned Julian's knuckles white with his death grip on the steering wheel. His voice however, came out calm, almost cracking at the end of his sentence.

"I didn't trust my friends with you." Un-fucking-believable.

"And you trust a complete stranger that is Liam Payne, of all people. You don't even know him."

Now, a logical side of me knew this was Julian we were talking about. What Julian did, Julian did best. Especially when it came to me, I realized this in time, he’d gone out of his way to make me happy, make sure I was in safe hands and everything was under control. Julian was never wrong. I knew this.

But the Alicia side of me was freaking out. Freaking out beyond belief. How could he leave me in the hands of this stranger? Yes, I understand he crossed the pond to come save me and believe me; I am and forever will be beyond grateful. That doesn’t mean I trust him enough to be with him alone for God knows how long. Just knowing that Julian is ready to see this through is beyond me.

Julian ignored me as he got out of the car, slamming the door in my face as if making a point. I followed suit soon after. My lovely brother, note my sarcasm, took no time in meeting me in front of the car, putting his hand on my waist, all but pushing me towards the two people awaiting us at the door: Liam Payne and his body guard.

Julian was right beside of me as I kept on trying to dig my heels into the walkway, slowing down the process of actually getting to the front porch. He mouthed me off in a quick and snappy motion through gritted teeth. “Now, I know how you feel but I’m going to come back as soon as possible. Now you, stop acting like a spoiled brat not liking her Barbie and stop digging your feet into the ground. You know I can carry you there myself with you screaming and scratching. You are staying there and that’s final.”

“I’m aware of that, thank you very much.” I responded back equally as we made it to the front porch and I plastered on the fakest smile of all history on my face.

“Good to see you, so sorry about what happened.” Liam greeted us. That seemed more like a goodbye than a hello. Feelings are mutual, I guess.

“Yeah, thanks for letting us over in such short notice.” Julian automatically switched to his businessman persona. The corner of Liam’s mouth tugged as he responded.

“No big deal at all, mate. I told you, you could call me whenever at all.” Julian nodded at him as he looked at the floor.  “This is Sam.” Liam introduced his body guard. “He will be protecting us during our stay in US.” Julian's face suddenly grew serious as he cleared his throat.

“May I speak with you in private?” He requested. Sam suddenly busted up, folding his arms across his chest as he walked towards us. As intimidating as he looked, Julian wouldn’t break a sweat. I’ve seen Julian take down 6 guys, twice the guard’s size without a scratch on his body. He was my very own jump-out-of-an-action-movie hero. Of course, the guard didn’t know that. Luckily, Liam put his hand up in a reassuring manner, nodding. Smart move.

“Of course. This way, please.” Liam led the way, soon disappearing out of sight leaving me to a stare off with Sam. Horrific obese.

Julian’s POV

Nope-nope-nope-nope-nope-nope-nope-nope. I am not okay with this. I am not okay with this at all. Leaving my baby sister alone is disastrous. Leaving her alone with a bunch of strangers? What the hell was I thinking? Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess; even if it meant leaving my most precious into the hands of another man.

Believing he walked enough into the room, he urged me to start.

“What is your intention? Why are you helping us?” I asked as soon as he turned around to face me. At first taken aback, he soon collected himself, looking me in the eye as he answered.

“I actually want to help her. She’s been through so much, stuff girls her age shouldn’t go through. I’ve lived a disaster, something quite terrible a few years back and I feel like I’ve been given another chance to make up for it, as I’ve had nothing I could do in my power, back then.” I saw his eyes cloud over. Truth is, that was all I needed. I’ve seen Liam at the hospital, he’d been with me throughout the whole time. He refused to leave, he refused to sleep. Believing he’s been through this another time before wasn’t all that hard. I patted his shoulder and brought him out of his thoughts.

“I’ll be back as soon as I can.” Turning on my heel, I walked out of the living room with Liam at bay. I had arrived just in time to see Alicia and Liam’s body guard, Sam, in a tense stare-off. I cleared my throat, distracting the big guy, letting Alicia win. Victory shone off her face. I made her happy one last time.

Alicia’s POV

I watched as Liam and Julian shook hands. They sealed the deal? I watched as my older brother walked out of the house. I ran after him, catching up to him on the steps of the porch. Pulling his arm back, I seemed to grab his attention. With teary eyes Julian turned to me, engulfing me into a sudden embrace.

“I love you.” He whispered into my hair. I clung to him equally tight, wanting nothing more than him to take me along. That didn’t happen of course. I didn’t have that kind of luck.

Kissing my forehead, he let go of me. He let go of my hand. Julian walked over to his car, got in it and without wasting more time, drove away.

I don’t know how long I was there on the porch, standing where Julian left me, staring at the memory of him. I’d be damned if I said I didn’t miss him at all. It wasn’t before Sam asked me in did I actually move from my spot.

I stood there, in the middle of the hallway. Chin up, arms crossed. Liam came back from the door to approach me. His gaze was on the floor and his hands occupied his front jean pockets. When his eyes met mine, his mouth opened, wide enough to say something. Before he could utter a single syllable, my hand flew up in the air, stopping him.

“Look,” I said. “Just because Julian dropped me on your porch doesn’t mean that I have to trust you. ‘Cause truth is, I don’t. I don’t!” I shrugged. ”Thank you for being there, thank you for saving me and all, you really didn’t have to stay up all those nights. You didn’t have to stay at the hospital, either. You didn’t have to stay at all. But for some reason, you did and now you’re stuck with me. Don’t worry; you don’t have to talk to me at all because I’ll be out of your well-conditioned hair in no time Mr. Payne, so leave me alone.” I was fuming. Who did Julian think he was, leaving me alone with a stranger? Just because he was so famous didn’t mean he was immune to all things bad. Now that I looked at Liam, he seemed visibly shocked and appalled. Seeing my gaze, he quickly covered up and got a tad bit closer, lifting his hands in a surrendering position.

“Alright, all I was going to say was ‘are you hungry?’” Stepping around me, he walked into what I assumed was the living room. Without glancing back at me,

“Your room is upstairs, second door on the left.” He told me. Not giving myself time for scolding my bitch of a brain, I ran upstairs slamming my door shut.
