It was a beautiful Saturday. The sun was shining; the wind had started to give the new autumn feel. Alicia was making amazing process, she still hadn’t woken up but I was determined to stay here until she was alright. The past 2 days had gone by rather slowly. Julian never left and I never slept, not that I needed any.

Suddenly, my phone went off.

Hello?

Hey Liam. It’s me, Harry. How are you holding up?” I had taken the time to explain the events that had occurred to the lads.

I’m doing fine. Alicia still hasn’t woken up and Julian is still attached to the window.” I said, looking back at him. Sure enough, he was right where I left him.

What about you?” I shifted from one foot to the other. Honestly, I missed the lads. But if I went back, I wouldn’t be able to focus on anything.

It’s not the same without you. Niall misses you, a lot. We all do, but Niall keeps on looking at your pictures together. It’s getting kind of creepy.” I managed to crack a smile. Niall would do that.

I, being the gentleman, sent Alicia all kinds of flowers. I don’t know what her favourite is but as long as she doesn’t have any allergies, the flower garden will do her just fine.

Thanks mate. For the support and everything. Say hi to the others, yeah?

Of course, wish we could do more. By the way, will you make it to the recordings in October?” 2 months from now. I just wish she wakes up soon.

Oh Lord, I hope so.” After bidding goodbye, I walked into Alicia’s room.

As unconscious as she was, her broken face was an open book. She was pale of blood loss. Julian was looking through the window. He was exhausted, I could tell from the dark circles under his eyes. Her abdominal was rising and falling. It was great progress seeing as she had an oxygen mask not a day ago. I felt like I should say something. But what exactly can you say to a stranger sleeping?

Say something.’ The voice inside my head pressed.

I propped myself up in the visitor’s seat, planning a speech, I cleared my throat.

“Hello Alicia. I’m Liam. I made the call. I helped in saving you somewhat.”

My eyes landed on her broken body. My shoulders slumped, I couldn’t continue with that conversation. Not that I was conversing with anyone. Letting out a sigh, I dragged my hand down my face. Can’t I just talk to her normally?

Resting my elbows on my knees, I pinched the bridge of my nose.

“I’m sorry, Alicia. I honestly am sorry. For everything that you’ve been through. For the state that you’re in. I got out here as fast as I could. It’s safe to say that we’re really worried.” I glanced back at Julian.

“Julian’s here.” I said softly. “He’s been stuck to the window for days now.” I chuckled sadly.

“We all just want you to wake up. We want to see you up and shining.”

I looked around the room, light blue. Such a hospital colour. Maybe it should’ve been a livelier tone. Maybe then, the patients would have the energy to heal and feel better. I should feel better. I did everything I could.

Then why does it hurt inside?

I know it’s not going to get better if I step out of this room. Looking at Alicia, I took her scars in one more time. It pained me to see them. She needed to get better. She needed to open her eyes.

“I need you to wake up; otherwise I don’t think I can keep it together.” A small smile formed on my face as I looked at Alicia. I hadn’t known her for long – I hadn’t known her at all – yet the impact she made in my life was moving. I walked out of the room and down the hall. I needed a seat.

Daydreaming on the wall was all I could really do other than waiting for Alicia.

That’s when Harry’s first bouquet of flowers passed me by and into Alicia’s room. Suddenly, there was hope within me. She was going to wake up.
