Alicia’s POV

All good come to those who wait.

That was a quote I had used throughout my entire life. Debating on if I should use it or not, I concentrated on the light that was seeping through the wood of the cellar. Were 4 months long enough? Was I at the end of my nightmare? From what I could tell, which was a tiny bit of light, it was almost nighttime. I hadn’t eaten in a week which made it harder for me to handle the pain of my broken bones and the beatings I recieved daily.

My nose was more sensitive than ever. I was hoping that the awful smell wasn’t coming from me because it surely seemed like no other I had ever inhaled before. Andd not in a good way. My disgust was soon focused on the door that lead to the cellar.

I’d recognized the 4 kidnappers by their footsteps. Of course, the toughest one out of the group walked down the stairs and soon untied me.

“Are you ready for this?” He sneered. He layed me on the floor and lifted the back of my shirt. This had to be one of the worst. I heard a faint sound of his belt coming out of his pants’ hooks. I braced myself for the worst.

The swoosh in the air was followed by a scream after the cold metal reached my lower back. The first shock was all I needed. I was ready to die. The licks of the metal came faster and faster determined to get a sound out of me. Sadistic, this was. He wanted me to cry in pain. Little did he know, I couldn’t even do that. I was so weak. Another whimper escaped my lips. That’s when my lower back was slit with the metal.

I threw my head back. I had pleaded for him to stop. The more he delivered the licks, the more the slit was deepening. Knowing that none of my screams and pleads were going to stop him, I decided to shut up and let my tears fall freely. Maybe, just maybe my focus could be adverted to something else.

Upstairs, there were no sounds. It was just the TV on. Someone was in the kitchen. Someone else was coming down the stairs. It was so faint that there probably was a third floor in the house. Then, there was a knock on the door.

The noise stopped. The footsteps stopped. Everything besides the swooshes of the belt stopped. I wasn’t focused on the wound that by now needed stitching.

First, there was nothing. Then, there was everything.
