Aisu's POV
"And where were you?!?" Grandmumsies snapped at as I stepped into my house.
"I stayed behind at school to finish some work.." I said, closing my eyes and preparing for her to continue shouting.
"Really? And you return at night? What is this work?" Grandmother asked with a deep scowl.
"Class representative work.. You know. Since we have an upcoming festival," I said, keeping my eyes shut.
With a grunt, she turned away in her wheelchair. Grandmother said nothing as she rolled away.
I slowly walked through the house towards my room. My bare feet walked along the empty hallways that led to the staircase. I paused when I heard voices from the other room.
"If you're going to become the successor of our family, you have to get good grades and a good reputation, got it?" I could hear Father say. I peeked in and saw him talking to Ari, my younger sister. I silently kept walking.
Only when I was back in my large room did I finally relax and fall onto my bed. My room had light blue walls. On the left was a sitting area while on the right was my bed, dresser, and a comfy chair. Across from the door was a door leading into the large bathroom and a walk-in closet next to it.
A sigh escaped from my lips, and I lay there for a moment, staring at the pastel blue ceiling, before finally getting up and walking to the bathroom.

Katani's POV
Forcing my way past the cars, I stormed to the other side of the street. Once I got there, I stopped and looked at a van, parked on the grass next to the sidewalk. The trunk was open, and I could see supplies inside of it.
Elian stared back at me in shock. He stood outside of the van, holding bags of cookies in his hands. His mother was behind him, standing near the open trunk. She stared at me as well. Elian's younger siblings were there too. His sister's name was Meili, who was eight years old and had the same pastel pink hair as Elian and his mother, but her tips were a pastel green. The youngest child's name was Kael; he was also eight years old and had light green hair with pink tips, the exact opposite of Meili.
"Katani..?" Elian asked. His surprise has sneaked into his voice for his tone seemed shocked.
"No. It's another girl who looks just like Katani and is your friend," I replied sarcastically before switching to a more worried tone. "You really were kicked out?"
Elian looked down and nodded. "Uh.. Yeah," he said, playing around with his feet.
"On your birthday too.." I said sadly. "Before I ask the details, here." I held out the two bags. Elian's mother and his siblings continued selling packets of cookies and other snacks.
"Huh? What's this?" he asked, setting down the cookie packets and grabbing the two bags.
"Your birthday present silly," I told him, watching as he pulled out the box with the necklace and opened it. His jaw dropped slightly as he stared at it. He then gulped and set it on the side, pulling a solid black, turtleneck sweater out of the other bag. There was also a gift card.
"Since you always complain about the cold. And that's a gift card to your favorite restaurant."
"Katani.. I.... Thank you," he said, putting the things back in the bag and stepping closer, wrapping his arms around me in a hug.
