Watermelon (Avengers)

The sound of a watermelon cracking open filled your ears. You smiled happily cutting one of your favorite fruits.

"What are you doing?" came a voice behind you, almost making you drop the knife. The grip on the lethal weapon tightened and you turned around slightly annoyed.

"Can you seriously mention that you came in before scaring me and almost making me dropping the knife." You glared at the Sokovian boy.

"I did, I said what are you doing." Pietro's lips quirked up, getting you irritated. You breathed in and out, "You know what, how about you try some of the watermelon, I'm sure you'll like it." You offered him a chunk, smiling innocently. He gladly took it but before he can take a bite of it you gestured him to stop.

"You know sayings that if you eat the seeds, a watermelon will grow in your stomach. Tragic." You mocked a horrified expression. Pietro shrugged and took a bite of it, chewing it thoroughly. You thought you got him but apparently not. You turned around, disappointed and finished cutting the fruit.

You heard Pietro cough, "I-I think I swallowed a seed." He gasped in a comical way and started freaking out. You wanted to laugh so hard but he was genuinely terrified. Wanda came in quickly, concerned over her brother.

"Wanda! A watermelon is going to grow in my stomach!" He grabbed his sister's shoulder, shaking them lightly. Wanda's face distorted into a confused expression and looked up at you for a better explanation. Before you can actually explain more of the avengers came in.

"What's going on and why is there a piece of watermelon on the floor?" Tony crossed his arms, trying his best to glare at you three.

"Well-"

"And why does Pietro look like he's about to faint?" Steve interrupted.

"If you let me explain, thanks. Well I was cutting fruit and he scared me so I told him that if he swallowed a seed, a watermelon will grow in his stomach." You pursed your lips, looking down embarrassed and amused. There was a silent pause and almost everybody started laughing. Thor wanted to laugh, but he didn't get it. Clint let out a high pitched laugh, making it even more funnier.

"He actually, oh my gosh, GOLDEN (NAME)!" Tony held his stomach from laughter. Bruce shook his head, walking away. Natasha smiled but went behind Bruce. Steve covered his mouth laughing.

"Why is everyone laughing? This is serious! I'm about to die!" Pietro frantically looked at everybody and Wanda chuckled.

"Pietro, you are not going to die. (Name) was joking. Watermelon does not grow in stomachs." Wanda elaborated. Pietro's mouth was left open and he stared at you. You burst out laughing, covering your face. Pietro then huffed in annoyance before walking away from everyone.

"I'll go comfort him." Wanda chased after him. Tony wiped the tears from his face, offering you a high five.

"Good one."
