This book is entirely mine. All the chapters, the cover, the title, all of it. All copyright goes to me and me only. Please do not steal my story. I will hunt you down. And I will find you. Okay, thank you! :)
Okay, before you start reading I just want to help you with a few things in the story that might confuse you. I live in Australia so our seasons and stuff are opposite to America, so it is Winter here while it's Summer there. Anyway, I am only telling you because I want it to be Summer holidays in my story, so she will be leaving during the Winter. Might be confusing at the moment but hopefully it will become clearer once you start reading. But even you have any questions about anything just comment and I will try and help you. Enjoy the story!
Summer's POV
Beep Beep Beep
I groaned as my alarm clock blared in my ears. 'Only one more day till freedom', I thought to myself. It was the last day of school until I was shipped off to my dad's for the holidays. Thankfully I would get away from the cold and get to enjoy the California sun.
I dragged myself out of bed and down to the kitchen to start scavenging for breakfast. I settled on 2 pieces of toast. There wasn't really much else since mum needed to go shopping. I poured myself some orange juice while I waited for the toaster to pop.
"Morning sweetie.'' I heard my mum's voice chorus down the stairs.
"Good morning mum." I replied back.
The toast popped as my mum came waltzing in still in her pyjamas; well I was still in mine so I couldn't criticize.
"Thank you!" my mum said cheekily as she stole a piece of my toast from the toaster.
"Hey!" I whined as I slightly laughed at her childishness.
Mum began to butter the piece of toast she scabbed off me, I doing the same with my own piece.
"Are you all packed ready to go to your dad's tomorrow?" I began to eat my freshly buttered toast and head upstairs to get ready.
"Yeah, I've been packed since yesterday! I can't wait to fly out and see him." Enthusiasm coated my voice. I see my dad for 2 months a year, yeah not very often I know, but my dad lives in California, America, while I am still in Australia. Not exactly a distance that can be covered once a week. My mum and dad split when I was very little, about 3 I think... My dad stayed in Australia for a while and I would visit him every 2 weeks but he moved to America when I was about 10 and that was quite hard on me. Mum certainly had a very explicit conversation with him over the phone after she had finished comforting me because I was so upset that dad would go so far away from me. But here I am 17 years old and love my dad to pieces.
"Good. I'm glad you're excited. Even though you don't see him often I'm glad you are able to enjoy the time you spend with him." I could hear the sincerity in her voice, even though her and dad don't exactly get along I am glad that she is happy to let me see him.
I ran up the stairs to get changed for school. It was Winter so I had to slightly rug my self up. I put on some grey skinny jeans and a 'White Stripes' band t-shirt. I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth and apply my basic minimal amount of make up that I usually wear when I go to school; foundation, mascara and lip gloss. I then started to tame the animal that was my bed hair. I began to brush through my extremely straight blonde hair and put it up into a ponytail. I walked out of my bathroom and back over to my closet to grab my favourite big woolly cardigan. I then put on some black vans, grabbed my phone, house keys and backpack and began heading out the door.
"Bye mum!" I yelled out in to the house.
"Bye Summer!" I hear my mother call back. I smiled to my self, I'm not quite sure why... but I think I'm just happy to have a mum like her.
