I stood the in the library as Kane went through tons and tons of books, pacing as he did so. I rubbed my temples,my headache was getting worse and I didn't know what to do. I wanted to go outside and walk. I quietly tried to skip away, but was immediately caught by Kane.
"Where do you think you are going?" He asked, turning to me.
"Just for a walk..."
"No." He said, turning back to the book.
"No?"
"That's right."
"I'm going for a walk." I scoff, walking out.He slammed the door and grabbed my shoulders, pushing me down. I looked at him and frowned as he walked away. I got up again and opened the door only to have him slam it and push me into a chair.
"Stay in the damn chair,Noelle!!" He growled.
"No. I want to go for a walk." I aruged.
He growled again, his canines extending. "Know your place, mutt"
I felt tears well in my eyes and stood up,him towering over me as always. "We are equal so if I'm a mutt so are you!"
"SIT! DOWN!" He yelled.
"NO!!" I screamed. At that exact moment all the Windows in the library shattered to pieces. For some reason I was breathing heavily and my headache for worse. "I'm taking a walk" I whispered, leaving a stunned Kane behind me.
I made my way to the pack gardens. No one would be there this late. I sighed and say on a bench. What was I feeling? Anger?
Hurt?
Sadness?
I rubbed my eyes and looked up,catching a glimps of brown curls. Why was that familiar?"Is someone here?" I asked, peeking around a cherry blossom tree. "Answer." I tried to demand confidently.
"Only me,Luna." Came a meek and very familiar voice. I looked to me left to see the little girl from my very first trip to the hospital. She hadn't grown much and she still wore her faded yellow dress with its pink flowers.
"What are you doing here so late at night?" I asked. I knew she wouldn't lie to her Luna.
"I-I live here,Luna." She respnded, looking down at her feet.
I frowned. "What about your parents?"
"Mama died when I was born and daddy was a warrior..."
"So you're all alone?"She nodded and I sighed, picking her up. "Well not anymore. What Is your name, child?"
"Daisy."
"Well,Daisy,you have a home now."
~*~*~*~*~
I bathed Daisy and clothed her in a new dress, brushing her hair so her curls were not so tangled with each other. I smiled down at her when I tucked her into bed. I walked out and went to the library where I had last seen Kane. He was sitting on the floor, hundreds of books at his feet.
"Kane?" I asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Where have you been?!"He asked, furiously, standing up.
"I went for a walk. I found an orphan child,Daisy. I would like to find her a family."
He sighed. "Noelle,I love that you care for the children, but how do you know her parents are really dead? She could be a rouge."
"Her mother was a nurse and her father was a warrior. I looked them up."He took in a deep and let it out.
"Okay."
"Kane, come to bed with me. You've been working so hard for an explanation for all this. You need rest and so do I,but I can't sleep without you..." I said, rubbing his shoulders. I heard him sigh in content before leaning his head back into my chest.
"Okay."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I woke to a cold bed. Kane had already left to do more research. I did my morning routine, shower, dry, hair, breakfast, teeth, and went to the library only to see it empty. I frowned and went to his office, knocking before opening the door. Kane sat in his new office with a couple. He smiled up at me and took me in his arms, setting me in his lap.
"Honey, this is my Beta,Sam,and his Mate,Ruby." Kane said. "They would like to adopt Daisy today."
I frowned and picked up the file on his desk, looking it over. I only wanted the best for little Daisy. I looked at Ruby's chart and my frown deepened. She was barren. She wasn't able to carry children. I felt sorry for her. When I finished I looked at Kane and nodded, exiting the room. I couldn't see her when she left. I knew she wouldn't want to leave. I walked to the library and saw that all the books were missing...except one.
The Oracle
I frowned and picked it up reading the front page and gasping at the second. It was a picture of me in Oracle's clothing,a blue crystal necklace around my pale neck. Under it was the caption. Our Oracle will change everything.
Welcome to our family Oracle Luna Noelle.I gasped and dropped the book, feeling a pain in my chest. I looked down to see my chest was...glowing? It was glowing blue...the same blue as the crystal. I felt myself slipping away into blissful darkness.
Silence.
