Four|The Lone Vase

When I woke up Kane was no where to be found. I went downstairs to see Lilly,drinking a mug of fresh coffee and looking at her phone. She looked up and smiled at me.

"Good morning,Luna." She said.

"Morning...Kane?"

"I'm not sure where he has run off to,but he said he would be back by lunch time." She shrugged. I looked at the microwave clock. 9:15. So I had about three hours till he came home again. "Do you want me to do your hair?" She asked. I nodded and headed to the bathroom to brush it out.

I was impatient through the whole process,but it turned out great! I looked like the Little Mermaid,Ariel. I was so excited when she revealed my new color. She wouldn't let me look in a mirror the whole time and it made me frustrated(Lilly taught me that one).

I gasped and hugged her. I couldn't wait until Kane saw it,would he like it as much as I did? I heard the front door slam and I whimpered,naturally. I hid behind Lilly and felt my eyes start to water. He was angry. He was going to hurt me. He was angry....

"Calm down,Noelle. He probably just had a stressful day." She reasoned. I nodded,but made no move to leave from behind her. She opened the door to the bathroom and left me there,alone. I pouted. Thanks,Lilly. I sighed and carefully made my way out of the bathroom,looking both ways before stepping out. I gulped and looked over the balcony to the living room,seeing Kane down a bottle of Scotch. I frowned and made my way down the stairs. He must have heard me because I saw his head tilt back as he took a deep breath,turning his head to face me. He smiled and I looked at my feet,blushing.

"Little One,you look beautiful. My Little Ariel." He cooed,taking me in his arms and placing kisses all over my face.And for the first time,I giggled. Kane froze and looked at me in shock. "Noelle,you are truly beautiful." He said and I blushed. "You re about as red as your hair,Little One"He chuckled. Kane wasn't scary w gen h e smiled. He was safer when He did.

"Why...town?" I asked him.

"No reason,honey. Don't worry about it." He said grinning. I nodded and he put his arm around me and carrying me to the couch. "Hey..I have some things to tend to in the pack after lunch.."

"Won't...see..you?"

"I'm afraid not." He sighed in disappointment. I nodded again and he smiled. "Thank you for being so understanding,baby."

"Well...comb" I said. He chuckled.

"I'm gonna get something to eat and head out again,okay?"

"Mkay.."

He fixed himself a sandwhich with some Cheetos and are quickly. I have him his keys and wallet before he went out the door. He thanked me and kissed my cheek before heading out the door.

My feet seemed light that day. Even though Kane wasn't with me I felt good and safe. Lilly and I were playing Scrabble when we heard a knock on the door. When she got up to answer it,a woman walked in and glared at me. She was talk in her Stiletto heels,reaching almost to Kane's height. Her eyes were black,showing that her monster was out. Her hair was black and long enough to reach just below her bottom. She wore a see through blue tank top,revealing her neon pink bra with tight lime green daisy duke shorts,pushing up her butt cheeks. It was kind of disgusting to look at. Her top did NOT match her shoes or her pants.

"You're her?"  She asked. "Pathetic! You're so tiny and weak! You don't deserve the title of Luna;you don't deserve any title for that matter! YOU STOLE HIM FROM ME! You stole my Mate,my title and my glory! I outta KILL you!" She screeched.

"How DARE you?!" Shouted a familiar voice. It was Kane-No. It was Isaiah! He was angry! "How DARE you threaten your Luna?!" He shouted,grabbing her by the throat. I screamed and tears fell down my face. He was going to kill her. I quickly ran to the kitchen and grabbed the biggest knife I could find,cowering in the corner.

It wasn't long before he came up to me. I closed my eyes and held the knife in front of me. I would get punished for defending myself,no doubt. He would kill me just like the woman.

"Baby,please put the knife down." Said Kane's soft voice. I looked up to see his golden eyes,watching me. I set down the knife and he took a step forward,making me whimper. He took back his step and sighed. "I'll sleep in the guest room tonight."

He went upstairs to gather his things and closed the door to his room,quietly. I was suprised at his calm he was,considering that almost 24 hours ago he rampaged his office like a mad man. Lilly helped me up and took me to the bathroom where she did up my hair in a braided bun and ordered pizza.

I didn't say or eat much that night. Probably due to the prior events I had experienced. Kane never once left his room,but I could faintly hear small sobs coming from him in the guest room. I excused myself early so that I could try to sleep,but Lilly stopped me before I went upstairs.

"Kane is a very good man,Noelle. He just sometimes had trouble controlling his anger;as does every Alpha." She said.

"How..know...so..much?" I asked.

She looked down annd sighed. "Kane and I used to date..way back when.."

I don't know why but I felt a wave of jealousy crash into me when she said those words. I simply nodded and headed up to Kane and I's room,gasping at what I saw. I closed the door and looked at my nightstand,putting my hands over my mouth in surprise. I'm front of it was a small note in neat hand writing.

To my One and Only,Noelle

My dearest Noelle,
I realize that my actions have not been the best and I am a terrible Mate. The vase in my office was a mere replica of this one. I knew it was your favorite and I just couldn'tgive you anything fake. I hope you forgive me for my stupidity;I've never commited to anyone before and it takes work for me.
Please know that I love you very much and think of you often(which means all the time to me).
Forgive me?

I put down the note and looked at the vase. It was like me in a way. Unique,but also very alone.
