"Yes, I'm meeting with Wilkinson tomorrow. He's made it very clear that he won't be making any hasty decisions and I've made it clear I'm in for the long haul." Cameron talks quietly into his phone, I have my head resting on his lap as I read a chapter on contract negotiations.

He runs his hand through my hair and his touch relaxes me so much.

I've started classes at Columbia and it's stressful to say the least, it's obviously nothing like the small community college I attended. But I'm determined to do the best I can.

My phone buzzes, I pick it up and glance at it.

Bro, we're meeting up at the library to cram for the contract negotiations midterm we have tomorrow. 800pm until we have this shit engrained in our brains.

I chew my lip because this is one of the rare moments that I get to spend with Cameron during the week. He's been staying late at work for the past five months as they prepare for their bid to acquire Wilkinson's company. We always have the weekends but those two days aren't enough, I miss him so much during the week. I usually end up hanging around his office while he works just to be close to him.

For him to be home, even though he's on the phone, is a rarity.

Damn, I'd totally meet up with you guys but Cameron is actually home early for once so we're spending time together

I introduced Matt to Cameron fairly early on in our friendship. We met during my international business class and just clicked as friends. Any business major in New York knows who Cameron is and at first I was wary because I was worried he might be using me for the connection but he's never brought up anything like asking Cameron for a spot in his internship program. We've become close friends and he introduced me to his group of friends so now I have people to hang out with other than Cameron.

Dude it's our midterm, you know group study is more beneficial than self study. 😐

I chew at my lip as I think about leaving Cameron's arms and going to the library to meet up with the group.

I put my phone down and go back to reading the chapter Cameron is going to quiz me on. It's kind of an advantage to have someone like Cameron help me study, this is what he does everyday.

"No Aaron, you won't be needed at this meeting. It's something less formal, Wilkinson is strange just like his father and he just wants to get to know me, wants to make sure that the person acquiring his business is worthy of it." Cameron explains quietly and I have to stop myself from rolling my eyes. Aaron's animosity towards me is obvious to me, he hides it well in Cameron's presence but I've seen the way he looks at me when Cameron isn't looking.

He thinks he's so far above me because he's VP of a multi-billion dollar corporation and I'm just a college student. I know technically he is but I don't let that weigh me down. I'm working hard to better myself and while I have had some things handed to me, like my acceptance into Columbia, I work my ass off to maintain a 4.0.

I've also been working as project manager for the app that Cameron acquired 5 months ago and I have to say the experience is invaluable. If by some act of the universe I don't end up working for Cameron after graduation, that experience alone can get me a job at any Fortune 500 company.
