When I regain consciousness again I no longer have the heavy feeling and when I try to open my eyes I can actually do it. Everything is blurry and I blink a few time to try and clear my vision.

"Hi, baby." Cameron comes into view and his eyes are red but he has happy smile on his face.

"Cam," my voice feels scratchy and dry, my throat is sore and I start to cough from the irritation.

"Don't try to talk just yet, Nash. They just took that tube our of your throat." He says and he sniffles and holds my hand tight.

"I was so scared I'd lose you when I just got you back. I should have never let go home alone," he murmurs and he raises his hand to my cheek and caresses gently.

"Can you step aside, Mr.Dallas so that I can assess the patient?" A gruff voice asks but I grip Cameron's hand tighter, I'm scared and he's the only familiar face in the room.

"No," my voice comes out raspy and I have another coughing fit. The coughing makes my head start pounding.

The doctor steps to the other side of the bed and shines an annoying light in my eyes. He does some other things and then steps back and leaves the room. Cameron sits me up and offers me a cup of water with the straw. I gulp it down immediately the cool water soothes my throat.

"That doctor is the best in the U.S. I made sure they brought him here so that you could have the best care," he comments and he sits on the edge of the bed and looks at me. He caresses my cheek again and looks at me like he can't believe I'm awake.

"All I remember is some asshole beating me up for my wallet and phone," I say, I'm completely disoriented. I have no idea how long I've been out.

"Yeah, the police caught him by tracking your phone. The idiot was using it," he says. "The blow to your head made your brain swell up so they had to do emergency surgery to relieve the pressure. It's been like 2 weeks since then."

I panic when I realize I don't have health insurance. Even though I'm employed full time, I'm still in the probationary period.

"What? Are you okay! Are you in pain? I can buzz your nurse..." He says frantically and I blink back tears, this must cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, I'll never be able to pay it off.

"No..." I let out a stressed sigh. "I don't have health insurance yet. I'm basically fucked and all because of some asshole who wanted money I didn't even have."

Cameron relaxes and I frown at him, it's a big deal to me. "You don't have to worry about that, Nash. I'm paying cash."

My eyes widen, I never imagined Cameron would do that for me when we're not even together.

"Cameron, no. You can't do that," I say, I'll be indebted to him forever and I hate owing anyone anything.

"Nash, it's already done. Anything I can do to make your life easier I want to do it. I'm still in love with you, you know that. I wouldn't be able to stand watching you struggle when I have more than enough money. Please... just let me do this for you. I promise it comes with no strings attached. You could stop talking to me right now and kick me out but I still wouldn't regret paying for your medical expenses. I would never hold this over your head." He tells me intensely and I look down at my hands, I can't shake the guilty feeling even though I was out when he made that decision.

"Okay..." My voice comes out soft and fragile without me intending it. Cameron looks at me fondly when I look back up at him.

"I'm so happy you're okay... I was scared you'd wake up and not be the same. They said you could have had some brain damage and they wouldn't know until you woke up. I'm just relieved..." he tells me and my heart clenches at his words. I can't imagine what it would be like to have brain damage, it would have changed my life completely.
