Miranda's pov

"Keep your eyes closed." He says. "I do." I say. We were driving somewhere but he insisted it be a surprise. We park. "Can I open them now?" I ask. He covers my eyes with his hands. "Not yet. I'll tell you when." He helps me out and we walk to wherever the surprise is. "Just one question, why are you doing this for me?" "Seeing how hard you work to give your little brother his dream made me want to do something special for you." We stop walking and he drops his hands. "Ok open your eyes." I do and right before my eyes, I see row after row of instantly recognizable pews. My jaw drops and I look down at where I'm standing. "No way! I'm standing in the opry circle!" I gasp, barely able to think. "The stage that made country music famous!" He shouts waving his hands in the air. It echoes making me laugh. "Ya wanna try?" He asks, catching me off guard. "Wait? Me! Me singing on the opry stage?!" I cry, shocked. He smiles and nods. "This will blow your mind." He turns the mic on. "What song should I sing?" "The song that means the most to you." He sits in the front pew. The song that means the most to me? I stare down at the circle. Then I look back at him. He's got a control box in his hand. "Ready?" I shakily nod. He presses the button on the control box and a light shines on me then the screen behind shows my face. My goodness. "Robert Johnson went to the crossroads so the legend goes, he left with his guitar and the devil took his soul. The devil took his soul. Been out here on this highway, breathin' deisel smoke. Drivin' hard for hours tryin' to make that Memphis show. People always ask me, son what does it take to reach out and touch your dreams to them I always say..."

Jason's pov

My eyes go wide and my jaw drops hearing her sing this song with so much heart and soul! "How bad do ya want it? How bad do ya need it? Are ya eatin', sleepin', dreamin' with that one thing on your mind? How bad do ya want it? How bad do ya need it? Cause if you want it all you gotta lay it all out on the line!" I'm shocked. She's got talent. I walk up onstage. "Cause if ya want it all ya gotta lay it all out on the line!" She lets go of the mic and takes a step back. Her face turns bright red. "I was terrible wasn't I?" "O-On the contrary, I think y-you were amazing. I've never heard such a beautiful singing voice and I've been around 'em all. Why didn't you come to Nashville?" "I well I did. But when everything hit the fan back home.... I quit to take care of CJ." Wow she gave up on her dreams to take care of her baby brother. "I had a record deal and everything. I even started a tour but I couldn't and wouldn't let him go into foster care." She starts crying. I hug her. "Darlin' stay with me here in Nashville. On the off days I'll take care of CJ. People need to hear you sing and you deserve this. All the hard work you do, it's the least I can do." "W-Wait, you want me to stay?" "I need you to stay. You have to." "Ok I'll stay." I smile and hold her hand. "Come on. This wasn't the only thing I wanted to show you."

Luke's pov

"So what's your favorite song of Jason's?" I ask the little wired kid. "Black tears." I'm surprised by this. "Why that one buddy?" He looks up at me innocently. "It's what my sister does. To get by." He says, shocking me.

Miranda's pov

I can't believe me and Jason are making out in the back of a bar. His arms around my waist. Both of us breathing heavily by the time we stop. I stare at him surprised. "It's definitely not how I expected my night to go..... But I'm glad it did." He says. "Me too." I say. I'm so nervous around him for some reason. Maybe cause he's the first person to hear me sing since I quit. I haven't sung in front of anyone other than CJ since I had to leave Nashville. We're both sweating. Is he nervous too? He glances behind him. "This bar is pretty hot what with the neon lights. Ya wanna take this outside?" "What is this?" I ask, worried. "I don't know." He says, also with a worried look on his face. He grabs my hand and we go outside. The mid-november air feeling good on my flushed face. We were standing by the wall, he had his hands in his pockets. "I'm not lying about your singing. You've definitely got a great voice." I blush, my face hotter than in the bar now. "And you're a very beautiful woman. I'm not just trying to get laid here, I'm serious." His choice of words just made me even more embarrassed. He looks away, obviously embarrassed too. "I need to get you in singing with Mike. He'll book you instantly." "You know you're the first person ever to hear me sing since leaving Nashville. Other than my brother." His eyes go wide. "Why hide such a beautiful talent?" "I... I don't know." I say, barely above a whisper. "If you'll have me, would you like to be my girlfriend, Miranda?" I'm surprised he'd want a girl like me! "Really me?" I gasp. He smiles and nods. "Yeah you." I smile, a tear falling from my eye. "Yeah." I say as he leans in and kisses me again.

I sit up when my phone rings. I quickly grab it so it doesn't wake her. It's Luke. "Yeah what's up, man?" I whisper. "Dude there's something you should know about that girl." "What?" I ask, glancing down at her. "She's had to be a stripper to get by. CJ said so. Because I asked him what his favorite song was and he said black tears because it reminds him of her!" Whoa. Didn't see that coming. "Why are you whispering?" Uh oh. "She's..... Sleeping right now. I don't wanna wake her." Silence on his end. "Did.... You.... Sleep with her?" I sigh. "Yeah." "Don't do that again! Ya never know. She could have STDs." "No she doesn't Luke. Knock it off. She woulda told me." I hang up on him and lay back down.
