🔽💭 Carter 💭🔽
His car skidded back to the car park. Lovell sat on the curb where the two had lit cigarettes months before.
"I'm getting my fucking prince back." Carter kissed through clenched teeth as he climbed out of the car, leaving the door open.
"Lovell!" He panted. "Lovell..?" Carter looked down to see Lovell being comforted by another cadet that glared up at him. The boy has his arm around Lovell.
"The fuck..?"
"What?" He sniffed.
"Jay Bosley.. Old friend.." He hissed through his teeth.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?"
The cadet shook his head and sighed sarcastically. He paused, turned his head to wink at Lovell, who didn't respond. He looked back at Carter.
"Where's your girlfriend, Carter?" Carter gulped but continued to stare into the cadet's dark eyes.
"Did she dump you, come crying back hmm?"
Carter stood with a blank expression, agitated and jealous.
Bosley put his hand on Lovell's who, again, did nothing.
"Ohhh I see! You realised that you NEED the person that only.. You know.. Saved your life? Funny that."
Carter looked away from the cadet, ashamed to be put in his place so firmly.
The cadet saw his anger, spat on the ground and walked off.
"Lovell.." Lovell looked up, his head in his palm. He smiled, even chuckled a little.
"Carter, I'm just done okay?
"I didn't see her I swear! The fact that no one could ever bring me as much happiness as you.. Uh.."
Carter stumbled on his words. The hurt shown on Lovell's face was beginning to fade.
"I'm sorry, okay? But you know you're the reason I'm still here.."
His mouth began to twitch. Was he smiling?
"Please just take me back, I'm lost without you- for fuck's sake why are you laughing!?"
Lovell was chuckling loudly.
"Stop!" Carter let out a laugh.
But then he heard something, lots of quiet footsteps. One by one, the other cadets stood up from behind the cars. All laughing. Carter looked around at them all, he was confused.
"Lovell..?"
Carter looked down and was captivated by his soft laugh and shy eyes.
"Take me back Lovell... Noooo I love you!" He mimicked.
"Shut up." Carter laughed louder along with the cadets that now stood around him.
Carter took Lovell's hand and pulled him up from the curb.
They both smiled. The roar of the cadets sounded louder. Carter kissed Lovell to the sound of excited cadets that ran to them and began jumping on them in a weird kind of awkward group hug. Carter shrugged them off as Lovell wrapped his arms around him.
"Wanna go home?" Carter smiled a little.
"Sure." Lovell grinned.
Carter took his hand and they fought through the cadets to Carter's car.
Lovell turned the radio up, ran his fingers through Carter's hair and said,
"I love you, even if you're the biggest wanker ever."
Carter laughed.
"I love you more, even if you are the most.. polite person I'll ever meet."
"You know it." Lovell smiled. Carter winked back at him, shaking his head as he started the car.
"Let's go to town and fuck some shit up, eh?"
"Sounds good."
"Alright, let's go."***
