Whatever It Takes

LAUREN

Camila called someone, and that someone brought the car to my apartment. I didn't know Camila had connections, let alone connections here in the Bahamas. It was unusual, but I think she had known more people when I escaped Hollywood's wrath. I drove us going to the grocery store, 'cos my own daughter loves a stranger more than me now. I guess she felt Camz and I's friendship, and she decided to cling onto her for dear life. As we were strolling around the grocery store, Camila was practically putting everything on the cart. Everytime she doesn't look, I take out some of the items and put it back to the shelves.

"I see you, Lo. Stop being stubborn and just let me do this?" Camila sighed, glaring at me. Oh.

"It's just too much, you know?" I bashfully said, looking down at my fingers.

"I want to help you. I am basically everything you have right now, Lauren. So please, stop being stubborn and let me just help you. Just shut up and let's shop." Camila sighed as she walked towards the next aisle. "And what goes in there does not come out until we reach the counter." She glared at me as I just nodded my head and followed her. I know Camila's intentions are good, and pure, but I can't help but feel bad about all the time and money's she's spending on and with me. This shouldn't even be her problem.

After a few quiet moments of me pushing the cart following Camila like a lost puppy, she stopped and put Luna down the floor. My daughter practically ran to me, hopping on my arms as she nuzzled her face to my neck.

"Mmmy, baba?" She whispered as I mentally cursed myself. Ofcourse she wanted a bottle at this time. When we're at the freaking grocery store.

"Sorry baby, we'll get some bottle when we get home, okay?" I said slowly as my daughter whined on my neck. "We'll go home soon. I promise." I whispered to her ear.

"We're actually done. Come on before she gets really really cranky, Lo." Camila said pushing the cart to the check out counter. "I have some things sent to your house, is that okay?" Camila asked me, but I just nodded my head.

"Aww. Cute family." The cash register said as we reached the counter. Camila and I just smiled at her as she rang the items.

"Lo, you can get Luna settled in the car while I finish up." Camila said as I grabbed the keys from her. I settled Luna in her car seat as I got the car ready and drove it to the entrance of the store. We got everything in and drove back home.

"Was Chris happy before he passed?" I suddenly asked Camila after a couple of minutes of silence in the car. I just wanted to know if my brother was happy.

"He was. He was super excited for college, and moving out of the house and stuff. After you left, I always made sure I call your family. I talked to Tay and Chris all the time." She smiled to me as I just nodded my head.

"Thank you for doing that, Camz." I softly said.

"Hey. We were practically raised together by fate. We swore we have each other's backs. I was just doing a part of our deal. I still am."

"But still, thank you." I smiled at her, holding her hand as she just smiled at me squeezing mine.

I was already cooking us food when the door bell rang. I heard a faint "I got it" and of course, Camila was already on the door talking to what looks like a delivery man.

"What is it, Camila?" I asked her, peeping my head to the hallway.

"Nothing for you. Continue cooking!" She shouted from the door as I giggled to myself. Dork.
