Bryan's POV:
I woke up the next morning feeling more confident than ever before. I yawned as I stepped out of bed. Knowing that me and Leann hit it off really well last night made me feel confident about what I was going to do. I went down stairs and ate some cereal. After I finished, I went back upstairs to get dressed. I slipped on light blue jeans and a black T-shirt. I was meeting one of my close friends from my old school, David, at the town square today. He was going to give me advice about what I should do with Leann.
I combed my hair and then brushed my teeth. I finally was ready to leave the house. I walked towards my car and drove to the square. I began to grow a little nervous thinking about what he would tell me. As I finally reached the square about 10 minutes later, I parked the car and walked to the coffee shop where he told me to meet him. I entered the shop scared to death. My confidence level definitely had dropped. As I walked over towards him he turned towards me and we fist pumped.
"Hey Bryan, my man, how you doing?"
"Um, not so well. What did you want to tell me?"
"Oh yeah! Um, how long have you two been together? 2 years?"
"A year and a half actually."
"Well, have you ever thought of, you know, proposing anytime soon?"
"Um, yeah, kind of..." I mumbled remembering the dream from last year.
"Why don't you ask her man! I will help you plan out everything. The day, the time, the words, everything. I told you to come here so we could pick out a ring for her."
I began to think. Was I really ready to go on one knee and ask her hand in marriage? But first, I need her father's word. Great.. I came up with a decision.
"I think I'm ready, but first I have to talk with her dad."
"YES! THIS SHOULD BE FUN. First let's get a coffee."
We walked over towards the counter and we ordered ourselves some coffee. After we paid for the drinks, we left the shop and walked towards the nearest jeweler. As we entered the store, I walked ahead of David and caught the attension of a man who worked there.
"Welcome sir. Who may you be shopping for? A girlfriend? A mother maybe?"
"A girlfriend." I mumbled.
"We have a large selection of bracelets and neckalces to choose fro...." I interupted him.
"Can I see the rings?" I said trembling.
"Ohhhhh, you're planning on proposing! Right this way!"
He showed me towards the vast selection of rings. There were too many to choose from. It had to be perfect, since she would be wearing it for the rest of her life. David came towards me trying to help me find something that she would like. After what seemed to be ages, I found the perfect one. I called over the man.
"Ah it's beautiful! Perfect choice!"
I smiled as he rang me up at the counter. He carefully placed the ring inside a tiny box.
"I wish you the best of luck sir. I hope she says yes." he exclaimed while handing me the box.
"Thank you, I know she will."
I slid the box into my jean pocket as Bryan patted my back as we walked out of the store.
"You are becoming a man Bryan! Not before me!" he joked. I laughed as we stood on the sidewalk.
"What do I say to her? When? David, help me!" I asked him.
"Just dig deep down into your heart. Say something that you have always told her. Something emotional yet so romantic. I don't know exactly the words to use, but you have to use what you feel in your heart. That is all I can tell you."
"But where should I ask her? When?"
"Since prom is coming up in a couple of weeks, ask her then." That should work perfectly."
Oh shit, prom. I totally forgot. Luckily I have a tuxedo in my closet. During a slow song, I should just get it over with. I would tell her a speech and go on my knee. It's perfect! But first, I had to ask her parents about it. Leann is out shopping with Elka and Caitlin for a dress to prom, so I might aswell use that to my advantage.
"Hey David, I have to go talk to the future in-laws, I will tell you how it went later."
He waved me goodbye as I walked towards my car. I can't believe that I was about to do this. I opened the car door and started the car. I took a deep breath as I drove down the street, to Leann's house.
