"Jimin, why doesn't anyone talk to you?"

Jihyun questions him as the words cross her mind. A sigh escapes Jimin's lips and he turns his head to give her a smile. His eyes shine as the golden light from the sky frames his irises, causing his eyes to look heavenly and pure instead of his usual dark brown eyes. "You'll find out someday."

With those departing words, Jimin quickly gets up from the ground and begins to lightly jog away. Confused, Jihyun sits up with a small upside down smile forming on her lips. "Jimin, wait!" Jihyun yells as Jimin's form begins to retreat farther away from hers. He turns his head and Jihyun's eyes widen at Jimin's clear and perfect face.

The scratches...

They're gone.

"Jihyunie!" She hears her little sister yell frantically once Jihyun opens the front door to her house. With a raised eyebrow, Jihyun takes off her shoes and calmly walks into the kitchen where Mija's voice was heard.

"Mija?" Jihyun calls as she enters the kitchen, scanning her eyes across the dimly lit room. They finally land on her little sister who sits happily on her chair; eating pancakes and bacon with a wide grin.

"Mommy made us breakfast for dinner! Isn't that exciting?!"

With a fake smile, Jihyun nods and sets her bag down onto the floor next to the table. "Would you like me to join you?" Jihyun asks her sister in a funny voice and she giggles in response with an ecstatic nod. With another one of Jihyun's signature smiles, she takes the seat next to her sisters and picks up a pancake from the center of the table where a stack of them lie. She places the pancake softly onto the plate that was already placed in front of her and picks at it- as if it were some weird or foreign object that shouldn't be entering her body.

"Jihyunie, what's wrong?"

Jihyun sighs softly as the remembrance of the argument she had with her mother yesterday tumbles its way into her pounding head. "It's nothing, Mija. Just eat your food, okay?" With a small pout from her sister, she takes another bite of her cartoonish pancake in response and her eyes turn glassy all of a sudden.

"Mija, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing, Jihyun. Just eat your food!" Her sister yells back in response as a tear falls from her eyes. Jihyun sighs and turns her body to face her younger sister and says, "alright Mija. I'll tell you what's wrong with me if you tell me what's wrong with you first. Deal?" Jihyun extends her hand towards her little sister and the younger one takes her hand and clumsily shakes it.

"Mom and Dad said you'll be leaving... and that you won't be coming back... Are you really going to leave me?" Her little sister questions with trembling lips and teary eyes. Jihyun seems to relax at this and she shakes her head, pulling her sister close for a protective type of hug.

"Why would I leave the best sister in the world?" Jihyun says and she separates from the hug to give her sister a comforting smile.

"Promise you won't leave me?"

"... I promise."

... Promises, are made to be broken...

---

"How could you just say that to her?!" Jihyun yells as her father steps through the door with his briefcase in hand. Just from the look of his expression as he walked through that door already told Jihyun what his mood was- irritated and cranky.
