[Chapter 17- Hold Me]

---

"Where have you been?!" She hears as soon as she walks through the front doors of her home. She sighs as she begins to take off her shoes, the journal and the photos still clutched to her side by her free hand. "Aren't you going to answer?" she hears her father say and she finishes taking off her shoes to look at him. From the corner of her eye, she can see her mom looking extremely worried from the doorway of the kitchen.

"I was at Jimin's house", she replies truthfully and her mom immediately leaves the doorway to stand by her fathers side. Her mom begins to reach her hand out towards her, but she avoids it and begins to walk around her shocked father.

"What are you holding", her father asks from behind her as she begins to make her way towards the stairs. She turns and holds the journal in one hand and fans out the photos she had been holding in front of her.

"Some lost memories", she mutters and clutches them to her side once again as she turns away to walk up the stairs. She stops when she feels a hand grab onto her wrist and turns slightly to see her mom with teary eyes.

"Jihyun, promise me you won't do anything that you'll eventually regret", her mother says a her voice trembles.

"Are you crazy?! You could have died-"

"I DON'T CARE, JIMIN!"

"How could you just say something like that?!" he grabs onto her shoulders and shakes them roughly, anger pulsing through his veins as he watches the girl in front of him slowly breaking, emptying her soul and practically selling it to this dark and foul world.

Her eyes widen at the sudden memory and she breaks away from her mother's grip. Her head continues to pound as a sudden pain in her stomach emerges, causing her vision to sway from the sudden strong wave of an ache stabbing all over her body.

"Just... leave me be", Jihyun mutters and she's about to turn around when a voice stops her.

"Did you visit your sisters grave today?" Her father mumbles a question and she raises her eyebrow.

"Why-"

"Because today is the day she had passed away, Jihyun", her mother softly says and she can feel a sudden pressure on her chest at those sudden words.

"Oh... I see", Jihyun croaks and she can feel her body beginning to grow weak. She tries not to cry and succeeds as she takes in a couple of deep breaths, her limbs becoming weaker as the seconds tick by. "No", she starts off, "I didn't visit her... and I would rather you not talk to me about it."

"Sweetheart, listen. I know this is terrible timing, but I am letting you know that you have the decision of who you want to live with. The papers are being processed and you-"

"I'll live with no one", Jihyun states coldly and tries to go back up the stairs but her father is the one that stops her this time.

"Jihyun it's for the best-"

"DO YOU THINK MIJA WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY", she yells as she spins around. She can no longer stop the tears that have decided to spill for the millionth time and she grits her teeth as her sister's smiling image appears before her eyes once again.

"My little sister... would have been terribly upset to see what is happening to this family", she sobs to her parents whose faces show guilt and remorse.

"Sweety-"

"Don't 'sweety' me. First, you hide the fact I'm not your actual daughter", she begins her rant as she continues to make eye contact with them, "then you never tell me about my sister-"
