22. Avoiding your mate

Yixing watched in dispar as Yifan left the cafe without a word. Why would he just leave? Did he not care that there was another alpha courting him. Did Yifan not want Yixing anymore?

"I'm guessing that was your alpha?" Show turned to Yixing with a smile.

"Yeah." Yixing whispered, he could feel tears pricking at his eyes as he finished making Shows coffee.

"Is he the other wolf courting you?" Show asked as he took the coffee noticing the look on Yixings face.

"Yes he is." Baekhyuns voice came from behind Show.

"It's a shame he left." Show said. "I would've liked to properly introduce myself to my competition." He looked to the door. "Or what was my competition." He smiled and patted Yixings head. "I'll see you tomorrow little flower." Show smiled before taking his coffee and leaving.

Baekhyun and Chanyeol both glared at the door before the omega looked to Yixing his eyes softening. "Yixing?"

A sniff.

Chanyeol avoided eye contact and just stared at the counter as Baekhyun walked around and put his hands on Yixings cheeks so he could look him in the eyes. "Why are you crying? I thought you liked Show?" Baekhyun whispered.

"I do but..." Yixing hiccuped. "Yifan."

"What about Yifan?" Baekhyun pushed gently.

"I love Yifan." Yixing burst into sobs after that and Baekhyun quickly ushered him into the break room Chanyeol following closely with the forgotten bouquet of roses.

Once they were in the break room sitting on the couch and Yixing had stopped crying Baekhyun decided the omega needed to spill. "Ok I know this will be hard but you need to explain to me: why are you letting Show court you even though you love Yifan? And why haven't you told Yifan?"

"I told Show... T-the other day." A sniff. "That my heart was taken by another wolf. But... But he insisted that I was still fair game." Yixing sniffed again and Baekhyun handed him another tissue. "I didn't want to tell Yifan because I still don't know if he loves me." Yixing blew his nose.

"But you two nearly mated?" Baekhyun tilted his head in confusion.

"You know I overthink things Baek." Yixing sighed a shaky breath.

"It is hard to tell with Yifan." Chanyeol spoke. "In our old pack all mating was done for benefit rather than love. That's one of the reasons we left we don't believe in that; we love." The beta hugged Baekhyun. "But we grew up with that around us so seeing you with someone better than himself would make him unconsciously back off." Chanyeol explained.

"What do I do?" Yixing asked.

"First." Baekhyun said. "Wait a while and let him cool down so he dosent do something stupid like last time you two had a misunderstanding."

"Second." Chanyeol continued. "You tell him. Explain to him all of this to reassure him that you do love him. No one can tell him for you, you have to tell him. He must hear it from you." The beta nodded.

"You sure it will work?" Yixing asked unsure.

"Worth a shot isn't it?" Baekhyun smiled reassuringly.

When Yixing and Baekhyun got home Yifan wasn't there. Amber told them he'd gone to the site for the new camp. Yixing was ultimately disappointed and felt a fresh set of tears brewing. Baekhyun explained the situation to Minseok who wasn't surprised something was going on. He'd had his suspicions when Yixing started bringing home flowers everyday.
