Chapter 16: Dancing To The Sound Of A New Drum.

POV: Riley.

I sighed and walked into the building of the address Aidan left. It was a dance studio.

“Why am I here?” I asked not in the mood for his games.

Aidan smiled.

“Today, I’m going to teach you to dance. Mrs. Hunter told me the theme of the party. Trust me it will come in handy.” He said.

I sighed. He was probably right.

“Okay fine. But no funny business.” I said.

He nodded.

“You have my word.” He said.

“And keep your hands to your self.” I added.

He shrugged.

“No promises.” He said grinning.

I rolled my eyes.

He did look rather handsome. He was in a tailored suit to fit him. It was black and the shirt underneath it was a very pretty olive green. It contrasted against his skin wonderfully. His shoes were shiny and polished. He was very proper and put together, as royalty should be. He held out his hand. I laid mine in his. He twirled me into him quickly. It made my head spin. He steadied me by putting his arm on my waist. I put my hand on his shoulder. He smiled.

“You have a nice form.” He complimented.

I shrugged.

“My parents sent me to prep school. Posture is a big thing, with angry nuns with rulers.” I pointed out.

He cracked a smile.

I smiled too.

He showed me a few simple steps to the waltz. It was pretty much stepping in a square.

I took a deep breath and counted off the steps in my head. His green eyes landed on my lips.

“You really are a lovely creature.” He whispered.

I looked away. I couldn’t do this right now. I couldn’t have him whispering sweet things to me right now. Not with the way I felt so uncertain of everything.

“Riley, I know that I messed up. I know you don’t think I care about you, but you have to understand. You’ve always been in my mind. I never had the chance to fall in love with another women, because I already had you. Ever since I was a child.” He said.

I felt the tears well up in my eyes again. I could imagine what he was going through.

“I never had a choice” I whispered.

He nodded.

“I know. I would never want you to be unhappy, but is it so wrong for me to feel like I could make you happy if you gave me a chance?” He whispered.

I sighed.

“Aidan, I couldn’t.” I said simply.

“Why?” He asked.

I took a deep breath.

“Because, if you feel about someone the way I feel about Carson you wouldn’t ask. All we have is a blood bond. Just lust, bring us together. With Carson its like my heart always belonged to him. Like his breaths begin when mine end, we are in complete sync. He is my world.” I said spilling out my feelings.

“But you don’t even know him.” Aidan said.

I sighed.

“Don’t you get it! I don’t have to know him! Our connections lies with in our souls, its not about any other of that petty stuff. He is my mate; my heart will always belong to him. Regardless.” I said.
