* * * Chapter One * * *

"Tony where do you think you're going?"

"Out".

"Where? Why do you have to be such an ass all the damn time?"

"Shut up, Karen".

"It's my car and I can-".

Shut up, I think, lazily using my leg to close the door as I apply my make-up. That's what you can do. I toss my dark hair over my shoulder, glossy as usual, looking at myself in the mirror. I blink at my reflection ; hazel eyes, blush and lipstick on, dark fishtail braid, tight red top and a leather black mini-skirt.

I hear a loud honk from outside and head down the stairs, bag strapped across one shoulder, and my black pumps clickety-clacking against the wood.

My hand was twisting the doorknob when, "Ashley", I whip around.

My mother stands in the doorway. I guess I take after her some-what; She's got red-gold hair and the same eyes and figure as I do. But I wasn't always curvaceous. I had to climb my way to the top.

 "What", I ask.

"Have a good day, okay?" She faked a smile.

Oh yeah. Even if I do it'll be ruined by you two quarelling again ; my mom and dad.

I walk out the door and spot Heidi's black Mercedes sitting right outside by the porch, her big Gucci glasses on.

 "Hey there, Ash".

"What's up?" I reply, getting in the car.

Heidi's half-Hispanic, her skin's a nice natural golden-brown, she has long black hair - not straight not curly, just in between, and a Coca-Cola bottle body.

"I found out loads of dirty shit on Carmen Chrisford".

"Spill", I say. She tosses her hair back and laughs.

"Calm yourself, Ashy", she shoots me a smirk, "We'll have a gossip session with the rest of the clique".

Tons of freshmans and sophomores are part of our circle, but they aren't exactly friends. They're fun for sure, but not our friends. Heidi's my friend for life. Even though she used to........

"See ya Mrs.R!" Heidi calls, pressing her heel down on the accelerator and speeding away.

"God damn, I wish I lived in your house". She watches the big, colonial building with it's perfectly trimmed hedges shrink away.

I shook my head at her.

Yes, If you're already guessing, I am the rich, spoilt, girly type, but that was now. Before was nothing like this. Everyone thought that me, Ashley Victoria Riverwood had the perfect life, the life every girl would dream of. But they were wrong.

Before anything good in someone's life, they had to experience the bad first.

We finally arrived at HenningFeild's High. Heidi parked her car in the usual spot. I opened the door, fixed my hair, fixed my clothes, and maked sure everything was just right.

I could already tell everyone was watching, whispering, talking and doing what they usually do everyday when they saw us.

Just then, I felt a pair of strong tanned arms caress me from behind my waist and a mischevious giggle. I would recognize that laugh and that arms anywhere. Alex Rivers, my boyfriend.
