I was out like a light until the ringtone of my cell phone interrupted my sleep. I shifted in bed before extending my hand out to the nightstand and grabbed it. I pressed the answer button lazily and moaned a 'Hello'.
"Ellie? How are you? Did you have a safe flight?" I rubbed my eyes and uncovered myself from the quilt.
"Yeah, Rose I did." I yawned and stood up from the bed then did a stretch to make the drowsiness go away.
"Thank goodness. I was worried. So how's the hotel?" I walked to the window pane and drew the curtains.
"I'm not staying at a hotel... Kaoru wanted me to stay at his house instead." I muttered and looked through the glass.
"What? His house?" she confusingly inquired.
"Yup." I replied rubbing my arms.
"Okay..." she unnecessarily stretched the word which made me cock an eyebrow. I knew what thoughts were running in her mind.
"Rose stop thinking about stuff that's never going to happen. Platonic remember?" I said solemnly and rolled my eyes.
"But a girl can dream right?" she teasingly said.
"You're getting on my nerves sis." I threatened.
"Okay! Okay! I'm done." she surrendered.
"Thank you." I said and then heard our house's door bell in the background.
"That must be Dylan. Talk to you later Ells. Take care of yourself." she quickly concluded the call after I said bye.
I sighed. Last night I fell asleep as soon Kaoru showed me my room. I was really impressed with his house because of its amazing setting. There were many transparent glass walls that revealed views outside and the house was completely white, from the tiles to the walls. The furniture was top class too.I realized that I hadn't taken my dinner therefore my stomach was protesting for food. I tied my hair in a ponytail and changed out of my pajamas.
I descended the stairs and sizzling sounds filled my ears. They were obviously coming from the kitchen so I ambled in there and saw Kaoru's back towards me. When he turned around we exchanged smiles.
"Good morning." I wished.
"Good morning." He said in a sing-song voice.
"I was waiting for you to have dinner with me last night but you fell asleep so I didn't want to wake you." He explained while moving his spatula in the pan.
"Oh sorry about that. I never knew when I dozed off." I embarrassingly replied and he simply chuckled since all of his attention was on the pan. I peered into it and saw that he was cooking bacon.
"Need some help?" I offered.
"Ah no I'm almost done." He said and I nodded. Then we set the table together and got seated to enjoy the meal together. After taking the first bite, I began eating like there was no tomorrow. Maybe it was because I hadn't eaten anything since the previous night but they're was no denying the fact that Kaoru's cooking was phenomenal."Is it good?" He asked with high hopes.
"Delicious." I complimented while painting a smile.
I then slowed down my speed and gazed around the house. It was pretty big for one person to be living in it.
"Kaoru, don't you ever get lonely... Living here all by yourself?" I asked. He answered after swallowing, "I've gotten used to it...and besides most of my day passes at the cafe and I only come home to sleep."
