Bree's PoV

Physical Education also know as P.E

One of the many things I enjoy doing. I loved working in teams, meeting new people and getting fit and active at the same time.

So when I heard what we were doing today you have to understand the deep emotional pain I was in. What was the deadly game we were playing today you ask? Well that would be dodgeball.

Yes, I repeat dodgeball.

I mean come on, really? Can you even count that as a sport? If you do then there should be some kinda rule book against the stupidity of the activity.

I tightened the bobble in my hair as I watched the girls on one side and the boys on the other, as we wait for our gym teacher to speak.

"Right ladies and gentleman. We don't normally do gym class together but as you probably know by now we're doing dodgeball. Mr Scott and I have decided to have the girls against the boys." Miss Baxter, the girls gym teacher said.

Everybody groaned in unison.

"Why do we have to play this game? It's some lame." Somebody further back than me shouted.

"Yeah it's stupid." Another person added.

Mr Walsh folded his arms. "Look, Miss Baxter and I don't care about what you lot say. We play this game or we do laps around the football field."

Instantly everyone's mood changed and they spread out onto two sides, getting ready to start the game.

I yelped in surprise as Megan pulled me off with her to the girls side. "Hey, watch it, you're manhandling me."

She waved me off. "When did you start becoming so dramatic?"

I scoffed. "Since Brec made me go to these stupid improv classes with her."

"Oh we almost forgot . . . " Miss Baxter started off. We all stopped walking to look at her. " . . . You're going to need captains. The aim is for you captain to be the last ones standing. Whoever's captain is hit first is the loosing team and the other side wins. Got it?"

We all grumbled a yeah and got into our positions. "Alright, who wants to be captain on the boys side?" Mr Walsh asked grasping his hands together.

In that moment, Ryder had walked in. He had something pink on his neck. I squinted my eyes trying to get a better look at what it was. I cringed when I realized what it was.

Lipstick. Ugh gross.

Miss Baxter narrowed her eyes at him. "Mr Anders, how nice of you to join us. Since your late you're the captain of the boys team."

He shrugged obviously not really giving a damn. "Fine by me ma'am."

One of the boys I wasn't familiar with came up to him. They talked to him for a couple of second before Ryder's eyes widened and he started to vigorously rub at his neck.

I rolled my eyes in disgust. "What a player." I mumbled only loud enough for me to hear.

"Who captain on this girls team?" Miss Baxter asked looking around between all of us.

"I nominate Bree." Megan said pointing her index finger towards me.

I looked at her in disbelief "What are you doing?" I hissed.

"I second that." Amanda yelled sticking  her hand up in the air.

Soon enough all the girls had voted for me to be captain. I groaned and sent all of them individual daggers.

Mr Walsh shrugged and gestured both arms to me. "Well then Miss Tomas, I guess you're the captain."

I gave him a pleading look. "Sir I really don't want to. Like really, really don't want to."

He gave me a sympathetic look. "I am sorry Bree, but majority have spoken."

I nodded my head and sighed. "You know what? fine, whatever you say."

Ryder cleared his throat, gaining my attention. "It looks like it's you against me then princess." He said smirking.

A smirk took it's place on my lips as I folded my arms. "You know what I say? Bring it on."

"Bring it." He said gesturing with his hands.

The whole gym full or people cheered. I guess Ryder and I competing with each other was all the excitement that they were gonna get out of this lesson.

Miss blew the whistle and we started to run for the balls.

It was now the near the end of the game it was just Ryder and I left.

"It's just you and me Anders. Are you scared." I asked my eyes trained on his every movement.

He rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Scared? I'm sorry to break it to you but the only person that should be scared is you."

We both had a ball in our hands.

He held a smug facial expression. "You might as well just give up now cos' you are going to loose."

I held a hand up in disbelief. "In your dreams."

He winked seductively. "Oh you are."

"Stop the flirting. That's not allowed in dodgeball." Megan shouted making both our heads snap to her.

My eyes widened. "I was not flirting."

I gasped as I noticed a ball flying at me, just in time, I moved out of the way and the ball hit the wall behind me. Taking that as an opportunity I threw my ball at Ryder and it hit him on the arm. I cheered and all the girls came running up to me screaming and shouting.

"Well done Bree." Amanda said giving me a high five.

"That was totally amazballs." This girl called Sasha screeched.

Amanda, Megan and I started jumping up and down along with the other girls.

Mr Walsh shouted through the room. "The girls win and since Bree was the captain, I would now like to crown her queen off dodgeball."

All the girl started screaming again and praising me. I got a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to see Ryder with a smirk on his face. "Good job princess, well done."

I smiled. "Thanks, you were great out there as well."

He shrugged and looked down at his shoes. "Yeah well I guess, not as great as you though."

I furrowed my eyebrows together in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Megan spoke for him before he could answer. "We have these competitions every month and every time Ryder has won and has been crowned the king of dodgeball. Nobody would ever want to play because we know he would always win, but this time I guess not."

I nodded my head understanding what she was saying. "So basically, I took the title off you?" I asked turning to Ryder.

He shrugged. "Yeah, I guess you did."

With that we turned on his heel and went out of the hall.

"I feel bad." I said looking up at Megan, a frown taking place on my face.

It's only a silly dodgeball game but it meant something deeper to Ryder and I felt terrible for making him feel bad.

But I'm determined to find out what the deeper thing is.
