The cell window wouldn't let any light through; it was long ago boarded up after some imbecile had tried to smash through it. Now there were bars over it anyway. If anyone could have gotten past heavy duty planks, Joshua thought, it beat him. Thinking back to the night before he remembered his drunken words, as sharp to him now as they would have been to the person receiving them. He just hoped they wouldn't take them to heart, forgotten hopefully in the midst of a hangover.
The clanging on the cell door of his cell brought him back to his senses.
"Looks like you're out of here laddie". The voice was soft and Scottish, but the intimidating frame looked like he could rearrange your face if you laughed at them. After looking about the poor excuse of a room for a final time, Joshua stepped forward and into the light of day.
