Cassy twirled around as she searched for ingredients inside of our stacked pantry.

Even though we don't take many trips to the grocery store, we always seem to have enough supplies. Maybe that's because Cassy hates cooking, and I don't do it as often as I should.

"What exactly are you trying to make?"
I couldn't help groaning as I slumped into one of the tall chairs at the counter.

"Maybe some rice," she replied, tapping her chin. "I haven't decided yet."

"Hmm," I hummed, pulling out my cell phone and checking for any texts I could have missed. Ever since I've been closer to Jay, I always feel the need to await his moves for any communication.

"So," she began, trudging over to the stove. "I think we need to talk."

"Yeah?"
Now I'm interested.

Shoving the device back into my pocket, I advert my full attention to Cassy. She wasn't looking at me, but it was no mystery that she's deep in thought. Her face contorted as I sat there in silence.

"I just...." her voice trailed as she tried finding better words. "I mean, I guess I have to stop encouraging you to date Jackson if you really do like Jay."

I snort, "And how would you know that I really like Jay?"

"Someone told me that he brought you inside the studio while they recorded. Every guy that has any form of connections with Jay is talking about it."

She ran a hand through her hair. I could tell that she was getting irritated by the mere thought of it.

"Do you honestly like him? I just wonder if you're dating him to get some closure out of it."

"I don't know what you mean by that," I began, squinting my eyes in confusion. "But if you must know, I do really like him."

"You're not playing the player?"
Her shock was evident.

"Listen to yourself," a dry laugh escaped my lips.
"I'm not doing anything wrong. And to be completely honest, I told Jay that I love him."

"Wait," screeched Cassy. "Are you feeling any regrets? Did he say it back?"

"I don't regret it. And yes, he said it back."

"Are you sure you love him? It's so early to tell."

"Cassy," I drone. "Maybe Jay isn't going to hurt me, even though I always had assumed he will. The boy has acted so well towards me, and-"

"I think you're mistaking these feelings for love. He's treating you like a princess, as he should. But that doesn't mean you have to love the boy," her eyes rolled dramatically.

"Anyway," I state, mimicking her eye roll. "I think you should stop pushing Jackson onto me now."

Cassy paused for a brief moment, and a quiet sigh escaped her lips.

I know that she wants the best for me, and that's why she always acts this way. She's only trying to protect me.

But I've done some reflecting on my wants; my needs. And I came to the conclusion that I need to explore. And my next exploration will be a growing relationship with Jay.
