(Taking off from the last chapter of 'the adoption')

(Katys POV)
I head back to Angela and apologise. "She's just tired." "No that's fine, Stella has fits all the time when she's over tired." Angela smiles as if a 3 years old fits are no different to a 13 year olds fits. I sit down with the rest of my friends and family and enjoy the evening. By 5pm I convince myself to ring the private counsellor who use to work with me after my divorce. She was the best and hopefully Mackenzie will warm up to her. "Hello, LA private counselling services how may I help you?" A voice answers. "Hi my names Katy and I was wondering if Demi was in?" "Yes she is, I'll just connect you to her line." "Thanks" I spend no more then 20 seconds listening to elevator music before she picks up. "Hello office of Demi how can I help." "Hi Demi it's me Katy Hudson." I use my real-ish name outside of 'Hollywood'. "Ohh hi, how are you?" "I'm doing okay, I kinda need your services again but not for me. For my daughter Mackenzie." "Oh okay no problem. I didn't realise you had a daughter sorry." She sounds interested. "Well by law but not by blood. I adopted her about 1 and 1/2 months ago and we're having some difficulties." "No problem how does tomorrow around ten sound? I need to speak with you alone first and then Mackenzie, sounds okay?" "Sounds great thanks." Ten the next day couldn't come any quicker. "So tell me what's worrying you about Mackenzie's behaviour?" She gets out a pen and paper to take notes. "Well that's the thing, I'm not really sure if I should be worried or if it's something simple. She has moments were if she's scared, tired or angry she reverts back to childish behaviours." "Okay, behaviours such as?" "Such as over clingy, crying, constantly needs to be touched, not inappropriately but just rubbing her back or stroking her cheek is one of the only ways to calm her down. Sulking or sobbing even if nothing's wrong." "Well that sounds to me like onset of puberty and confusion about what's happening to her body, have you talked to her about puberty?" She carries on writing. "No, I'm not really sure how to talk to her about it. I don't know what she does and doesn't know or if she even understands simple right from wrong. There's been a few times where I'll have friends over and I have to stop her getting undressed in front of them and she just looks confused like its okay." "Alright, that's understandable she spent the last few years having to get undressed in front of guards and nurses. Next." I feel like this is just an adult version of a tattle tale. "I think she's slightly jealous. I asked Orlando to stay away for a month until she's settled in and then I'd introduce her to him and Flynn but she become very upset and reserved. Whenever we go out or do something she's right next to me and won't go near him." "Hmm.. Do you know of any problems with her father?" "No not that I'm aware of." "Okay how about the Institute? Were there men there? Did something happen to her?" "I honestly have no idea, she hasn't said anything to concern me too much. She did successfully harm herself about 3 weeks ago but as far as I'm aware it's because she was scared and didn't trust me as much back then." I start to think of all the little things Mackenzie's been doing or saying to hint at sexual or physically abuse but it could all honestly just be Mackenzie or it could be something more? "Well I'll have a wee talk with Mackenzie, she might not open up to me right away or she might tell me everything. It depends on her really. Can you bring her in. I'll let you know when we're done." "Sure." I go grab Mackenzie from her room. "Hi sweetie, there's a really nice lady down stairs that wants to talk to you okay." I grab Mackenzie's hand and lead her downstairs. I'm worried as most times when Mackenzie feels threatened she shuts down and stops responding. She sits down on the couch and I leave the room. I don't want to eaves drop, I trust Demi to tell me what I need to know and Mackenzie should know I respect her privacy but it's hard when it's your child in there and you just want to know everything so you can help them. I go to my room and ring Tamra.
