We had been expecting to just stay in the car the whole time, but we found a small shed a little ways away from any road. It wouldn't open at first, but Michael had broken open the lock. It was only one room full of supplies like shovels, rope, and animal food. There was one small window in the back of it. It was kind of like we were in the middle of nowhere.
We tied the still unconscious man to a chair. Michael had told me to do it but then started yelling at me when he said I fucked it up. I just giggled and poked his cheek while he re-did it, wrapping the rope completely around him and the back of the chair. He said tying his feet was the most important part. I had never imagined I would be in a situation where Michael was explaining the right way to make sure someone you kidnapped didn't get away.
Michael and I went on a walk. He said it was just to see what the surroundings were like, but I considered it a date in the back of my mind. I reached over and grabbed his hand as we passed by an old stone building that was now in ruins. He was kind of caught off guard and felt awkward, but didn't pull his hand away. We sat on a bit of the ruins and I leaned my head against his shoulder.
"Are we safe now?" I asked.
Michael was staring in to space like he was deep in thought. "I'm... I'm not sure."
"When can we go home?"
"I don't know Gavin. I'm really trying to think about what the right thing to do is. How did this... relationship we have... become reality?"
"Because I love you," I said very seriously. I had told him I loved him before, but this time it felt like I was admitting something deeper.
When we got back to the shed we heard grunting noises and we realized the man had woken up. Michael went inside first and we saw the man give us a look of complete terror. It made me feel guilty, even if he did kick me in the alley way.
"What's your name?" Michael asked. He didn't reply.
Michael pulled out the card from his pocket that we had gotten from him. "It says right here your name is Samuel, I'll call you that."
"What do you guys want from me?" Samuel asked.
Michael looked at me as if asking what we should do before saying, "We just want some information."
"Look man, if I tell you who I'm working for he's gonna-"
"We don't need the name of your boss."
"Then... then... what do you want?"
"We want to know whats on the chip," Michael said, getting right to the point.
Samuel looked at him to me, standing right by his side. He abruptly burst in to laughter. "What? Are you serious?!?"
"Yes we're serious!" I finally said.
Then Michael exploded. I had only ever seen him get really mad at me or a computer game, and a couple times at some of the other RT guys if they had been arguing. And that was extremely rare.
"Ya! We are serious, Sam. And right now you should remember which one is tied up in the chair!" He said, pulling out the knife we had taken from him.
"Woah woah Mi-cool, calm down," I said, grabbing on to him and taking the knife.
"So what you guys just don't want to give us the chip because you think it's pretty or something?" Samuel asked, still laughing.
"Look... please.. we'll let you go," I said, not knowing if it was the truth or not.
He looked at me to Michael and back to me. "And if I don't tell you?"
