instead of going to mount washington, i took justin to grandview park where they show movies in the summer. it's not even summer yet but it's pretty fucking warm outside.
(that's grandview park when they're showing movies. i love educating yall about my city 😇)
"this view is awesome." justin smiled as we sat down in the grass, then he points to the big screen in front of us. "what's that?"
"they usually show movies in the summer." i say. "before my family sort of separated, we used to come up here and have a picnic. i had a dog at the time so i was usually running around paying no attention to the movie."
"what happened to your dog?"
"it didn't like to be on leashes but it liked to be outside. my brother tried training it to walk without a leash and it ran away." i shrug. "mom never let me get a dog after that."
"i'll buy you a dog." he smirks.
"juno's enough and he's not even my dog." i chuckle. "thanks though."
"anything for you."
we sat in complete silence, taking in the scenery. considering we're up high and it's now nighttime, it was getting hella chilly. i regret not bringing my jacket. "i feel like it's mandatory to give you my jacket because you're cold but i'm not trying to freeze either." justin looks at me, smiling.
"it's not mandatory." i chuckle.
"come here." he scoots closer, wrapping his arm around me. then he sat behind me, leaning my back on his chest as he wrapped both arms warmly around me. "this is as warm as you can get."
"warm enough." i laugh.
"can i have my phone? to at least take a picture?" he holds out his hand, me shaking my head. "you're trying to hide something."
"i'm not." i lie.
"you're lying, just give me my phone."
he starts tickling me which he knows is my weakest point. i couldn't push him off me since he's stronger and obviously bigger. "stop it!" i exclaim between laughs.
i felt his hands searching my pockets, then he took his and my phone, smirking. "tell me what you're hiding and i'll give it back."
"okay, get off me first." i challenge. he had my wrist pinned down to the grass, and he was sitting on my legs.
"no, we've done this before. you're gonna get up and tackle me." he shakes his head. "not trying to get grass stains on me."
sighing, i give in. "social media is going crazy because someone here was taking pictures of us like paparazzi. you don't need the stress."
he lets go of my wrists and hands my phone back. when he gets up from sitting on my legs, he sighs. "i knew that was gonna happen, and i don't care. i wouldn't have come in public with you if i did."
"that makes sense." i nod.
justin opened his phone to take a picture of they view, but instead he opened the front camera and grinned. i cover my face, "i look a mess, stop!"
when the front flash went off, i uncovered my face. he was posting it to snapchat. "rick the sizzler's back?"
"stop it." he starts laughing. "there's only justin."
"i like justin." i smile, nudging him. he turns to me, staring at me. "okay, seriously, i know i look a mess but damn don't gotta sta-"
i didn't expect him to kiss me, but he did. the feeling of his soft lips made the memories of before the breakup sort of wash through my brain. caught up in the moment, i drop my phone beside me, and climbed on justin's lap, pushing him down to lay in the grass.
before anything went further, he pulled away. "i'm sorry." he whispered.
"sorry for what?"
"kissing you." he sits up, me now straddling his lap. "you didn't have to kiss me back."
"i wanted to. i wouldn't have if i didn't want to." i smile, caressing his cheek.
"but i broke your heart." he looks down. "what i told you wasn't even the truth."
"you can tell me the truth later, just kiss me."
