Nareth
The throne hall was a magnificent room. It's ceiling was high, supported by massive columns of dark stone, embosed with flames and wolves. On each column, there was a flag with the banner of the red eye attached. In front of the columns, there stood large steel candleholders, decorated with rubies and onyx. The gleams of the candlelight played on the faces of people, gathered in the room. There were many.
Some of them wore dark clothes and heavy armor like Ariendil and Urzahil. They must be the black numenoreans too. Others were olive-skined, with long thick raven black hair and deep black eyes, wearing colorful silks. Those handsomes and beauties were probably easterlings. Some had even darker skin and wore many golden adornments. Must be haradrim. There were even elves - mostly women, probably taken as wives by the noblemen of Mordor. They stood proud next to their husbands - equals to them. One of the elven maidens caught my eye. She had soft golden hair and kind green eyes. She wore a light blue dress and a beautiful silver necklace with a green stone. The maiden was heavily pregnant. She smiled warmly at Urzahil and he smiled back at her lovingly. She was lady Lauredel, his wife.
At the end of the hall, at the end of the corridor of columns, there was a platform. Above it, there was the only window in the hall, it's glass nicely stained. On the platform stood two high thrones of dark stone. On the larger one, there sat a very tall man in dark, heavy armor. Sauron. He wore no crown, but held a pointy, terrifying helmet on his lap. People thought the Dark Lord's face to be inhuman, twisted and horrible. Instead, it was inhuman and perfect. His skin was pale as frost, features sharl and beautiful, lips pale and thin, hair long, sleek and black as night, glowing amber eyes stared with strong, proud gaze. He was like a sculpture no man could create. Next to Sauron's throne, there was a huge black wolf lying, guarding his master and looking lazily down at the hall.
On the other throne, sat a beautiful elven maiden, the fairest creature I have ever seen. Her body was petite, skin porcelain-like, eyes sapphire blue, shining with wisdom. Her hair fell in silky brown waves, lips were soft and red as blood. But I couldn't actually describe her beauty. She was magical, it looked like she was glowing. The maiden wore a beautiful white, slightly off-the-shoulder dress that glimmered like a diamong in the moonlight, a silver necklace with a red stone, silver circlet with a moonstone and a moonstone ring - masterpieces of adornments. She was like a star, a divine being. Next to her throne, laid a beautiful snow white wolf. Because of the elegance of it's posture, I suspected it was a she-wolf.
On her lap, the maiden held a little boy. I haven't seen many children in my life, but I was sure he was the most handsome child in the world. He looked just like Sauron - same face, same midnight black hair, same flaming eyes. Only the boy had nothing cunning or cruel in him. He was sweet and pure, his eyes stared with innocence instead of malice. Dressed in dark silk clothes, with golden circlet crowning his little head, he snuggled lovingly to the chest of the elven maiden. Sometimes he lifted his gaze up to Sauron and the Dark Lord returned it with gentleness and fatherly pride in his eyes. Softly and lovingly Sauron looked at the maiden next to him too and she smiled to him. She was his wife and the boy was their son. It was clear as daylight.
Also, next to the queen's throne, there stood another elven woman. She was wearing a white hooded dress and a silver necklace with a sapphire. She looked softly at the Queen and the child in her arms. She and the Queen looked very alike, just the woman's hair was pale golden instead of brown. I had a feeling they were relatives.
- My Lord, my Queen, lord Ariendil and lord Herendil hve returned - Urzahil announced after bowing and stepped away, most likely hurrying back to his beloved wife's side.
It was good, a man to be so caring. I didn't know eithet of them, but I was happy for them. I saw the love blazing in their eyes... The love that probably will never blaze in mine.
Ariendil and Hammer bowed too, I with them. The last thing I wanted was Sauron's fury. Or his Queen's, even if she didn't seem evil to me. Urzahil didn't introduce me. I suppose it was Ariendil's job as I was his betrothed.
- Welcome back - Sauron spoke - lord Herendil and you, my son.
Son?.. Did I hear correctly? Did Sauron just call Ariendil "son"?..
- We are glad to see you home again - the Queen said with a soft smile.
- And Ariendil, I see you have brougt a lovely lady with you - the fair-haired woman added - may you introduce her to us?
Ariendil took my hand and announced proudly and gently at the same time:
- Father, Mother, Grandmother - Grandmother? So I was right, the woman was the Queen's relative, she was her mother - I present you lady Nareth of the Black Gate, my betrothed.
The trio smiled, although neither Sauron nor the Queen looked very surprised. Like they knew about my arrival.
- Lady Nareth, even if I absollutely trust my son it is my duty to ask - did you accept Ariendil's proposal with your own free will? - the Queen adressed me with actual care in her voice.
- Yes, your majesty - I replied respectfully - lord Ariendil was the most honorable suitor. I accepted his proposal with my own free choice.
- What was his trial? - Sauron asked with surprising hint of softness.
- His trial was to resurrect my family after he sacrificed them in a blood ritual, your highness. Your son passed it before my eyes and I am rightfully his - I tried to hold my voice from shaking. Memories flooded into my head again, but I managed to chase them away somehow... How? How did I know how to act, what to say? It amazed my numb mind. Was it some instinct?.. Probably...
The expression on Sauron's face remained the same, but I noticed understanding in the Queen's eyes and sadness in her mother's. Perhaps the story of the Queen's marriage to Sauron was similar?
- Well, then come forward, my children - Sauron invited.
I understood it was the time for the blessing of the family.
I and Ariendil kneeled before the thrones. Sauron stood up, put his hands on our forehead's and spoke:
- Ariendil and Nareth, I, Mairon, Lord of Mordor, bless your marriage. May your hearts balze with love and your days be fruitful.
Then the queen stood up, handed the boy to her mother and blessed us too:
- Ariendil and Nareth, I, Aria, Queen of Mordor, bless your marriage. May your hearts balze with love and your days be fruitful.
The Queen's mother returned the boy yo her daughter. Her hand toutched me so softly I instantly felt my heart lighten a bit:
- Ariendil and Nareth, I, Alquawen, Lady of Mordor, bless your marriage. May your hearts balze with love and your days be fruitful.
We arose. Sauron, Mairon as he refered himself to my wonders, announced:
- You are oficially betrothed. The ceremony will be held in two weeks. Now go and rest. You are tired after your journey.
His words were followed by thunder of appalause. I felt I was about to faint again.*Hello there. Sorry for taking so long to finally update this chapter. I got very nice comments about this story, thank you all very much, it means a lot to me. :)
So, here comes Sauron, Aria, Alquawen, Goranoth (yeah, I didn't mention his name, but I will in the next chapter probably. He's a sweetheart, you'll soon see ^^), even a brief glimpse of Lauredel.
I thought of writing the family greeting Ariendil much more warmly, embracing him, but I sticked to the idea of them keeping proud posture. Royals, you know... But I will soon show their true bond. :) And idk myself how Nareth keeps herself on a leash that excellently. My feminism probably has it's claws here. XD Still, in the next chapter she will finally have a chance to let her emotions out. Hope you like this chapter.
Chaos
P.S. - Aria's outfit is in the media section. I wanted to find a faceclaim for Goranoth, but I didn't suceed ×(
Perhaps I will sometimw later, or even draw him. I just suck at it a bit, especially drawing children XD.
