Chapter 8

(Shadow POV)

I just kept punching Scourge repeatedly. Blood staining his face, I felt nose broke. Sonic was frozen.

"Shadow! What are you doing?!" A girl voice screamed from behind me. I stop beating Scourge and held onto his shirt. I slowly turned my head to the voice. I saw our school nurse. She was standing next to Sonic. I couldn't remember her name. Someone coughing brought my attention back to Scourge. His face was drenched with blood. Dripping out of his mouth and nose. He looked up at me terrified. Slowly, I rose off of him. The nurse grabbed me by my shoulder, making me yelp. I pulled away from her. She seem shocked at she just notice my bruises and cuts. Looking away from her, I just walked away from them. Leaving all three of them terrified of me.. Great.. The only person, who I like, probably hates me now.. At least that's what I thought until he ran towards me to follow. He was concerned. I gave him a fake smile. "I'm fine."

"Shadow.." He sighed. "There was this one quote I heard 'The loneliest people are the kindest, the saddest people smile the brightest, The most damaged people are the wisest, All because they don't wish to see anyone else suffer the way the did'. Just remember Shadow, You have people and friends to talk to. Don't let all your emotions bottled up.." I felt my throat go dry and my eyes water. Sighing deeply, I smiled at him.

"Thanks Sonic.." He was right.. I do have people and friends that care about me. He smiled like a dork and I just sighed with happiness.

"Hey, Let's go to my house. I'll fix you up." Grabbing my hand, he dragged me away. I only gave a quick glance back. Both Scourge and that school nurse was gone. Today was not my day.

Sonic's house was pretty cool. About as big as mine was. Two levels, a huge living room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a medium size kitchen with a table and chairs in it. What was the third bedroom for? I thought it was just Sonic and his brother. Sonic dragged me to the upstairs bathroom. He pushed me onto the tub edge. He gathered supplies to clean my cut. First, he cleaned my knuckles, mainly from punching Scourge is what broke the skin. Then patching my face and made an icepack to help with my black eye.
"Sonic, you home?" A voice from downstairs called out. It was definitely not Miles voice.

"Upstairs Uncle Chuck! I have a friend over." I flinched at the word friend. I wish he doesn't friend-zone me.. Wait, Uncle Chuck? He doesn't live his parents? Just then a man stepped into the doorway, Uncle Chuck, he looked almost looked like Sonic, having gray in his hair and a mustache. He looked concerned when he saw me.

"What happened young man?" I gave a nervous cough.

"I got in a fight sir." I looked away to avoid eye contact. He just gave an understanding nod.
"Well, be careful next time young man, Oh, I didn't get your name." I made eye contact.

"It's Shadow sir." He smiled.
"It's nice to meet you Shadow. I'm Chuck, Sonic's uncle." He held out his hand. "You can call me Uncle Chuck, everyone does." I shook his hand as he smiled at me. I tried to smile back. This felt weird. It felt like a real family. This was how a real family was supposed to be like at least. " What would you like for lunch boys?"

"Can you make Childogs?" Gross.. Uncle Chuck smiled.

"What about you Shadow?" Both of them looked at me.

"Um.. I'd just take a salad.." I felt awkward. This was weird to be with a family like this. It felt... nice.

Uncle Chuck started to make lunch for us. Sonic's brother came home and we all chatted. Well.. more like they did, I stay quiet and listened to them. This felt natural but yet really weird. It felt familiar to me.. Like this happened before, when I was younger and had a younger brother. It was to hazy and I couldn't remember.. Every noise and color slowly faded away as I thought of my past.
