Chapter 8

Your Pov

You studied the file Kaneki had dropped off, you look at every detail, double checking everything. Since Aogiri wasn't going to help, you didn't want any mess ups. You didn't even notice how much time went by, until someone came into the room. "(Y/N) you should eat something" you hear Shin in the background. "To busy" you reply, as you highlight some words. "well I made some chopped up standard meat for you anyways" Shin replies setting a plate down in front of you. "Thank you" you thank her, and quickly stop and eat real fast then begin again.

It was 6 am, before you finally began to feel the exhaustion consume you. You fold the file up, make your way into soft blankets and burrow deep within the covers. "Warmth, sleep-" right when you were about to doze off, you hear Yun and Shin arguing. Your eyes flash open with tired frustration. "GO TO BED!" you scream at the top of your lungs... you hear them scamper...silence..you smile then begin to doze off.

Dream

...Beep...

...Beep...

...Beep...

Young (Y/N) lay on the surgical bed, terrified for her life. She couldn't even move her arms due to the restraints on her wrists, ankles, and neck. (Y/N) looked around the white room. She was in the middle of a windowless room, every wall was pure white and the floor was white marble. The only thing that had color was you and the machine strapped next to you.   There was a metal canister next to you.  You couldn't see the contents in the metal canister but the tubes that came out of it were attached to your arms and neck. Each time you came to do this test you were always terrified. You knew full well that when the liquid came out of the canister throughout the tube and into you, felt like fire in your veins. Each test had a different looking liquid sometimes its black, or red, or blue. But one thing you knew for sure was that it was painful. "I don't want to do this anymore" younger you cry. You hear a loud buzzing noise, you begin hearing something but it wasn't coming from the canister. You glance down noticing white vents in the walls. When water began to pour from the vent. You pulled on the restraints trying to get free but you couldn't. And soon the entire room was filled. You could only hold your breath till you're lungs burst. just before your lungs burst you noticed the canister releasing the liquid into your system....

Dream over

You open your eyes, your face wet with tears and sweat. You noticed your hand shaking and slowly grab the hand with your other, trying to calm yourself down. "It was just a dream..it was just a dream" you breathed in and out. That dream was almost similar to a memory of yours..the day you became petrified of the sight of water.

Flashback

Younger you stood with the doctors and a guard in a small room. "what kind of test is this?" you asked curious of a pool in front of you. "This test..if successful will activate some of the serum that we've been injecting you with these past few years." The doctor said as he held a chart in his hand. "What do I have to do?" you ask not sure if you wanted to know. "well nothing. All you have to do is get in the pool." You stare at them fully confused. "what? no injections?" "Your parents said this would be better and more successful" another doctor spoke with a grin. "You'll be perfectly fine (Y/N)" the first doctor spoke. You stared at the doctor. He was lying you could tell. "what's in the water?" "nothing" You slowly walk up to the water. You turn around, going to ask what you were suppose to do once in the water when a guard grabbed you around the neck and held you. "Let.go!" you cough trying to pull his arm off, when you felt something being hooked onto your ankles and wrists. Your body felt so heavy when you realized they had changed cement blocks. to them "Wait-" you realized what was happening when the guard threw you backwards into the water. The heavy weights making you hit the bottom of the pool. You pulled as hard as you could on the bricks to come off. But nothing. They were just to heavy for your body. Soon after you lost your breath and you could feel the water enter your mouth. I..don't want to die. Your eyes flashed into their kakagun state, your kagune's shot out from your fingers and went right threw the binding that held the stones onto your wrists and ankles. Before you knew it you were out of the water panting and struggling for air. When soft claps erupted in the room. you look up seeing more then five people in the room now. Your parents, the doctors, and the guard. "Bravo honey!" you hear your father chime. "Excellent!" your mother smiled. You look down at your hands seeing the kagune wrapped around your fingers and on your legs. "Wh-what happened to me?" you gasp. "The test worked perfectly!" the first doctor says with wide eyes. "what did you do to me!" you gasp as your kagune begins to disappear. "we've made you better!" the second doctor explained. "you..destroyed me" You could feel your kagune was different all together now. It wasn't natural..well not natural for a ghoul that is...After that you began the final part of the test..killing..

End of flashback

You weren't proud of your past but it made you who you are today. After that flashback you decided it wasn't worth sleeping again and just lay in bed the rest of the night.

That morning you lay still, with wide eyes. You could hardly close your eyes with all the remembering and the dream that you had. A soft gentle knock echoed throughout the entire rooms. "Who could it be this early?" you asked yourself. You slowly made your way towards the door, noticing Shin and Yun watching TV and Satoko was somewhere. "Kaneki?" you mutter as you open the door seeing the white haired man. "Good morning Kaneki?" you greet. "Morning (Y/N)" he greets quietly.  He was wearing normal human being clothes for once. Jeans and a zip up black hoodie. "What can I do for you?" you ask trying not to stare at his attire. "I..Uh..well um I" he began to stumble on his words which made you smile. At least someone is normal. You laugh in your head. Kaneki looked up at you as if reassured of what he was going to say. "(Y/N) would you like to go out and get coffee with me?" he asked. "Wha?" you stare at him, mouth gapped open like a fish. "Uh..um" you look around as if searching for some answer on a wall or on you or somewhere. You sigh then smile and face him. "I would be happy to get coffee!" you say with a big smile. You turn around "one moment let me find my coat" You found your coat in your room, you quickly made your way to Kaneki who was standing in the hallway waiting for you., his hands in front of himself as if he was waiting to be scolded. "Okay everyone I'll be back soon! be good, Satoko is in charge whenever you find him make sure he knows!" you tell Yun and Shin. And with that Kaneki and you made your way to get coffee. Yun and Shin smirked "We're never telling him" grinned Shin.
