“Well this could’ve gone better.”
“Ya think?” Invy growled, grabbing the bars before us and shaking them angrily. “Your tone isn’t necessary.” I scowled, pulling up my legs and wrapping my arms around them. “I don’t need to be angry and depressed.” Invy rolled her eyes. “Can you please help me find a way out of here?” Invy asked, kicking at the bars once again and scowling at the strength they held. I shrugged. “I can try, but I doubt I can do anything.”
Right now, you’re probably wondering what’s going on.
Let’s do a recap…
Earlier that day…
“We need to take a shower. Now.” Invy said, grabbing me by the arm and pulling me up. Her nose scrunched up in disgust. “Oh god you stink so bad.” She hissed, looking away and coughing. I rolled my eyes, snatching my arm back. “Like as if you’re any better? I don’t recall getting blood all over myself.” I retorted, crossing my arms over my chest grumpily.
“Ace let’s go! We are dirty, we are disgusting, we need to shower. Now.”
She took my arm once again, bruising it with the force she was pressing into me. I tried prying her fingers off of me to no avail, making me give up almost immediately.
“do you even know where to go?” I asked, letting my body stumble along behind her. Invy nodded her lips quirking upwards slightly. “Actually, yea. I saw a waterfall down in the forest where the yaks graze. We can at least rinse ourselves off over there.” She said, turning in the village and going down the hill, leading out. Various villagers looked at us with distaste, some pinching their noses and scuttling away. I stuck my tongue out at some and they gasped, making Invy roll her eyes.
She didn’t even stop to give them a comeback.
Wow, she must be really serious about this whole shower thing.
“What if I don’t want to shower?” I asked nonchalantly, stepping over the mushy bodies of the dead mushrooms. Invy looked at me incredulously. “Really? Really Ace? You are filthy!” she cried out, throwing her free hand in the air for emphasis. I frowned, looking down at my arm. It was caked with dirt, and my nails were uneven and broken.
Yea, I think I could use some deodorant.
“We’re here.” Invy breathed, sighing with relief. I looked over to see a giant waterfall, its water looking like a very inviting clear blue. “Now get naked and jump in.” Invy ordered, fumbling with one of her belts. I rolled my eyes. “Our clothes are just as dirty as us. We might as well jump in fully clothed.” I replied, putting my hand in the water for temperature testing. The water was warm, making it even more inviting than before.
“That makes sense.” I flinched as water splashed in my face, getting dirt in my eyes. “Ow!” I yelled, rubbing at them and trying to get the dirt out. I think all that resulted was me getting even more dirt inside of them. “It hurts. Oh jeez.” I whimpered, blinking rapidly. “Don’t be such a baby.” Invy snorted, pulling me in. I gasped, taking a birth before my whole body was plunged into the oasis. I instantly relaxed, letting my body sink.
The water was amazing. It was the perfect temperature for a bath, and I could feel the cleanliness of the water. The rumbling of the waterfall was soothing from underwater, and I could feel the currents lightly move me as I hit the bottom softly.
I opened my eyes and felt the irritation seep from them. I grinned, letting out some of the air inside my lungs.
My peace was soon interrupted, however, when I felt two strong hands begin to scrub my head roughly, releasing all of the dirt and grime built up inside. I swatted the hands away and pushed up, sending the sand of the floor upwards.
